Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justin Ross is set to return to the team after the NFL suspended him for six games following an alleged physical altercation with his girlfriend.

Although Ross received a six-game suspension, he has already been suspended for five weeks since his Oct. 23 arrest, and the NFL is counting that time toward his suspension. And with time credited, Ross will be available for the Chiefs after Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

The only caveat: Ross will have to reimburse the league for game checks he received while on the commissioner’s exempt list, since suspended NFL players are forced to forgo compensation during their suspension.

Ross was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage, but those charges have since been dropped by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

KMBC reported this. On November 22, a judge officially dismissed the case against 23-year-old Ross.

According to an affidavit related to Ross’ arrest, the Chiefs rookie became aggressive toward his girlfriend after going through her phone, the woman told officers.

It was alleged that he not only pushed her, but knocked her to the floor and began throwing objects at her.

The woman did not have any serious injuries or bruises, but did have a “minor scratch on her arm” after the incident, according to arrest documents.

Receiver depth has been an issue for the Chiefs all season, so bringing Ross back could be beneficial for Kansas City.
