Katie Price reveals moment doctor told her Harvey was blind then left her in ‘limbo’

Katie Price has revealed the moment her doctor told her son Harvey was blind before leaving her ‘in limbo’.

The 45-year-old glamor model took Harvey to a GP when he was just a few weeks old after a nurse noticed he was struggling to follow a light with his eyes.

Harvey was later diagnosed as blind, autistic, has septo-optic dysplasia and learning disabilities and is one of the 2,000 people in the UK with Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder.

But Katie said she was shocked by the treatment she received from the GP in the shocking moment her son was first diagnosed as a baby.

She said on the Anything Goes podcast with James English: ‘I remember sitting there with my mum and he (the doctor) got all his stuff out and looked in his eyes and suddenly just, so obviously like this, “yeah , he is blind, yes, he is blind”.

Now the former glamor model has revealed how she was left completely in ‘limbo’ by doctors who offered no advice or support to the young mum

“And me and my mom looked at each other and were like “is he definitely blind?” And he (the doctor) said “yeah, he’s blind” and we said “right”.

He says “yeah, so sorry” and we sat there like right. And that was that.

“We just left the room, no like” “oh we can give you advice or there are these people you want to talk to.”

‘We walked out of the room like he’s blind, now what? We’ve just been left in limbo.

‘On the way home my mum was really upset and I just couldn’t believe he was really blind.’

Harvey, now 21, has been diagnosed with several disorders, including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, Prader-Willi syndrome and blindness.

Katie went on to say how ‘it just made me love him more to be honest. I will protect you that much more

‘I wouldn’t let anyone hold him. I was like no, he’s mine.’

This comes after she also claimed that Harvey’s father and former Premier League footballer Dwight Yorke has only seen his son nine times since he was born.

When Katie first became pregnant with Harvey, Dwight denied he was the father until a DNA test proved his paternity.

Asked how many times Manchester United legend Yorke has seen Harvey, Katie replied: ‘I think he’s seen Harvey about nine times in his life.’

She added that ‘I don’t think he liked me being with Pete (Andre) and claimed: ‘I don’t know if it’s because he couldn’t have me or Harv, to this day I know does not.

‘I’ve tried sending him pictures of Harvey on Instagram, Harvey playing the piano, he just ignores everything. He doesn’t want to know. But the door is always open, always.’

Asked why, she explained: ‘I don’t know because I am like that. Really I should say f*** off you a******* you don’t deserve him you haven’t been a part of it because I don’t know I’m just thinking if he saw Harvey and how great he is , for him to be like ‘f***** hell, I haven’t seen my biological son’.

‘Any man can make a baby, but it takes a real man to be a father in my eyes, but it’s still his biological son and, I guess, to prove him wrong because when he found out that he was blind and all this was like he’ll never play golf, ‘he’ll never play football because of you’. And I was like, it’s not my fault.’

A representative for Dwight Yorke declined to comment.

The star is also mum to son Junior, 18, and daughter Princess, 16, from her previous relationship with Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre, and shares son Jett, nine, and daughter Bunny, eight, with ex Kieran Hayler.
