PLAYER RATINGS: Four Man United players receive a 5/10 rating in Bournemouth draw, but which Red Devil is a FOUR for a ‘substandard’ display?
Bruno Fernandes scored twice to salvage an unconvincing 2-2 draw at Manchester United at Bournemouth as they dropped to seventh in the Premier League table on Saturday.
The Portuguese came to the rescue after Bournemouth had deservedly taken the lead with goals from the in-form Dominic Solanke and Justin Kluivert, and although the visitors pushed for a winner, it would have been undeserved.
Bournemouth created a host of early chances and led through Solanke’s clinical finish before Fernandes equalized against the run of play in the 31st minute.
Kluivert capitalized on more poor defending to restore Bournemouth’s lead soon after, but Fernandes dispatched a second-half penalty after a handball by Adam Smith to earn his side a point.
Here, Mail Sports’ Kieran Gill has rated the players.

Bournemouth (4-2-3-1)
Net – 6
No chance to stop Fernandes’ smash before he dived the wrong way on his penalty. Apart from those chances, Bournemouth’s goalkeeper was not tested nearly enough.
Adam Smith – 6
Started on the left but moved to the right after Sinisterra’s injury forced a change, and conceded a penalty when the ball ricocheted off his arm to make it 2-2. Harsh? Probably.
Illia Zabarnyi – 6
The ball bounced off him to leave Fernandes with a chance he simply couldn’t miss. Was otherwise very aware of Hojlund, who struggled to get a handle on him.
Marcos Senesi – 6.5
Defensively sound and two assists for his troubles too. The first one after his push left Solanke through on goal. A second later he found the unmarked Kluivert.
Milos Kerkez – 6
First he blasted the ball at Onana. He then headed towards the crossbar. He then ballooned another header that begged to be buried. Simply had to score.
Justin Kluivert scored one and was denied a second by a brilliant save from Andre Onana
Lewis Cook – 6
Gave Fernandes the odd kick and was a general nuisance in midfield, showing much more energy than the likes of Casemiro in midfield.
Ryan Christie – 6.5
Booked late for diving – rude – and thought he had won a penalty in stoppage time, only for VAR to say the foul from Kambwala was outside the box.
Luis Sinisterra – 6.5
So close to finding the far corner after charging at Dalot who battled him in the one-v-ones. Unfortunately, that injury meant he had to be replaced before the break.
Justin Kluivert – 7
United practically rolled out a welcome mat for him to make it 2-1 when he was completely unmarked and he would have scored a second but for Onana.
Striker Dominic Solanke capped off an impressive display by scoring the opening goal
Dango Ouattara – 6.5
He caught a lovely pass from Solanke, but left with his head in his hands when he couldn’t find the far corner. Linked up nicely with his striker when United were tested.
Dominic Solanke – 7.5
Such a handful that it would be surprising if Bournemouth aren’t tested for him this summer, with a fine finish to open the scoring after Kambwala’s let-off.

Andoni Iraola – 7
Bournemouth played as if they believed they could trouble United and they did just that, even maintaining that belief when the odd injury occurred.
Manchester United keeper Andre Onana could have done better for both Bournemouth goals
Manchester United (4-2-3-1)
Other Onana – 5.5
“Dodgy keeper,” was the old-fashioned chant from the Bournemouth fans behind him. Could he have done better for both of the goals he conceded here? I suppose so.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Disastrous defending from United left Kluivert all on his own to make it 2-1 to Bournemouth. You could have parked a couple of buses in the space between Dalot and Kambwala.
Willy Kambwala – 6
Was clearly losing his footing when Solanke made it 1-0 but played a big part in the build-up to United making it 1-1 by winning possession robustly. Glad VAR came to his rescue in stoppage time.
Harry Maguire – 5.5
Had to chip in to prevent Solanke from scoring early, but overall United’s defense lacked organisation. As a senior defenseman, he needed to show some leadership.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 5.5
Tried to get forward down the left flank – even accompanied by the odd step-over – but overall not the most memorable performance from Wan-Bissaka.
Willy Kambwala recovered from his early slip and was saved by VAR in stoppage time
Casemiro – 5
Time has been catching up with the 32-year-old Brazilian and once again this was not the performance to suggest he is a player United can count on.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
Suggesting a dive in the penalty area in the 12th minute – behave yourself, Kobbie – before his shot led to a penalty for United to make it 2-2 when it deflected onto Smith’s arm.
Alejandro Garnacho – 4
Poor touch which ultimately led to United losing possession before Solanke’s opener, pouncing on the break after a substandard 45 minutes down the right.
Bruno Fernandes – 7
Made no mistake after the fortunate way the ball set up for him to smash it beyond Neto to make it 1-1, and happily took the chance to make it 2-2 from the penalty spot.
Marcus Rashford – 5
Should have scored but slammed his shot into the side netting. Rashford looked largely lost on the left wing and was one of those who lacked the required intensity.
Rasmus Højlund – 5
It could be argued that he was feeding off scraps, but this was a sleepy performance from Højlund as he barely got involved in the few chances that were created.

Amad Diallo (for Garnacho, 45) – 6
Mason Mount (to Mainoo, 78) – N/A

Further pressure was placed on boss Erik ten Hag after Manchester United again dropped points
MANAGER
Erik ten Hag – 5
His side fell behind twice, but it was far below the standards of a club trying to think big with their new owners. Know they should trouble Bournemouth a lot more than they did here.
JUDGING
Tony Harrington – 6
By the letter of the law it was probably a punishment, but one had to feel for Smith. Relied on VAR to tell him Bournemouth should have a free kick in stoppage time, not a penalty.
