Jamie Redknapp has blasted Liverpool for their sloppiness following Sunday’s shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Reds were dealt a serious blow in their pursuit of the Premier League title as Eberechi Eze scored the only goal in Palace’s shock 1-0 win at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were punished for a poor start by Eze after 14 minutes and then failed to take a host of chances in a frustrating second half on Sunday.

Redknapp said: ‘so many chances, it felt like you could be there until next week and they wouldn’t have scored.

‘Liverpool missed a ton of chances. When it gets to the end of the season, that’s when you have to be clinical.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson agreed, saying Klopp’s side paid the price for the lack of a natural goalscorer.

‘I think it’s a bad ending, a lot of them are bad endings. It was one of those days.

‘Curtis Jones, I think the boy Wharton does well here, he puts him under a bit of pressure. You can’t keep going backwards.

– They don’t have a natural goalscorer. That’s Arsenal’s problem. Man City have got a natural goalscorer and they are at the top of the league at the moment.
