Rusty master Hannah Gutierrez-Reed branded jurors “a**holes” and “idiots” in furious unrepentant prison calls, prosecutors say ahead of sentencing TODAY
Prosecutors are asking for an additional 18 months in prison for Rust player Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who faces sentencing Monday after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed while filming on the set of Rust in October 2021 when a gun Alec Baldwin was practicing with unloaded ammunition, which was Gutierrez-Reed’s responsibility.
Prosecutors accused Gutierrez-Reed in a two-week trial of inadvertently bringing live ammunition onto the set of “Rust,” where it was expressly prohibited. They also said she failed to follow basic gun safety protocols.
The jury convicted her in March of involuntary manslaughter, which carries a sentence of up to 18 months and a $5,000 fine.
They say Gutierrez-Reed, 26, has shown no remorse for her actions and used foul language to describe the jurors who convicted her and should have her sentence doubled.
Prosecutors are asking for an additional 18 months in prison for Rust Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who faces sentencing Monday after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
Special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis filed a response to a request by Gutierrez-Reed for a conditional discharge, arguing that she deserves the exact opposite.
Morrissey urged the judge to impose the maximum prison sentence and designate Gutierrez-Reed as a “serious violent offender” to limit her eligibility for a reduced sentence later, describing the defendant’s behavior on the set of “Rust” as unusually reckless.
She said Gutierrez-Reed has shown a lack of remorse, citing comments made by Gutierrez-Reed in jailhouse phone calls with her mother, boyfriend and her attorney’s attorney, which are being monitored by authorities.
These comments include referring to the jury that convicted her as ‘a**holes’, ‘idiots’ and ‘r*****s’.
They have also said she wants Baldwin, who fired the gun that killed Hutchins, to go to prison as well and is refusing to testify at his upcoming trial because ‘she wouldn’t have to be subpoenaed if Baldwin didn’t show up for her. ‘
“Hannah wants them to put Alec Baldwin in jail as well,” added prosecutors in the case.
She has also tried to get her legal team to ask Hutchins’ widower and son to speak on her behalf at her sentencing, angering how the verdict has damaged both her life and potential modeling career.
They say she has done all this without ever ‘expressing genuine remorse at any point’, while she claims the witnesses who testified at the trial are lying.

Prosecutors said Gutierrez-Reed wants Baldwin, who fired the gun that killed Hutchins, also to go to prison and is refusing to testify at his upcoming trial because “she wouldn’t have to be subpoenaed if Baldwin didn’t appear for her.”

Gutierrez-Reed also, prosecutors say, faces another felony charge for concealing a firearm from security staff at a New Mexico bar.
‘After bypassing security at the bar, she went into the toilet and made a selfie video saying ‘They checked my wallet but they didn’t bust my bum cheeks! Wah, wah, wah,’ the archive says.
She also claims other inmates have told her: ‘I can’t believe they threw your pretty little white a** in here for nothing’ and compared prison food to cat food.
Attorney Jason Bowles said NBC News in a statement that her legal team ‘will file a response probably tomorrow.’
Gutierrez-Reed was convicted by a jury in March on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Hutchins and has been held for more than a month in a county jail on the outskirts of Santa Fe.
Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer of ‘Rust,’ pointed a gun at Hutchins when the revolver went off, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
The 30 Rock actor has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter, saying he pulled back the gun’s hammer but not the trigger before the gun went off.
His trial is scheduled for July before the same judge, Mary Marlowe Sommer, who oversaw the trail of Gutierrez-Reed.
