Johnny Depp embraces co-star Maiwenn as his red carpet renaissance continues at the UK premiere of Jeanne du Barry – a YEAR after its official Cannes launch
Johnny Depp embraced his Jeanne du Barry co-star Maiwenn as he attended the premiere of the period drama in London, UK on Monday night.
The 60-year-old actor plays King Louis XV in this period drama alongside actor-writer-director Maiwenn in the film, which hits theaters on May 2.
Stepping out for the UK premiere at The Curzon Mayfair in London, Johnny showed love to his co-star.
The actor, who is attempting a comeback with his first film in four years, wore a long gray coat with a black suit underneath to the premiere.
While lovingly clutching Maiwenn, Johnny gave a very serious expression in many of the photos and adopted a correspondingly serious stance.

The new trailer for Jeanne du Barry was released earlier this month (via Vertic YouTube) offers new footage from the film.
The film had its world premiere as the opening film for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, released theatrically in France on the same day that Vertical released the film in the US
The trailer for the French-language film begins by revealing that the film is set in 1768 France, with Depp entering a room flanked by many guards.
A title card reads that his character Louis XV, ‘had many lovers… but only one stole his heart’, while a male character tells another that the king must meet Jeanne.
Maiwenn’s character is introduced and makes a royal introduction as she is told not to look the king in the eye and “you don’t show emotion at court.”
Completely disregarding protocol, Jeanne looks Louis straight in the eye as she slowly gives him a cure as someone says, ‘Who does she think she is?’
One of Louis’ servants tells Jeanne that the king wants to meet her as she enters his chambers and tells him that she is ‘honoured’ to be there.
He offers her champagne before they kiss, as a title card reveals that this is based on ‘the untold true story’.

King Louis is seen walking into a royal event with Jeanne and is heard saying: ‘I want to be by her side. When the sun rises and when it sets.’
He is seen presenting her with a magnificent necklace before telling her that he wants her to live with him in his palace at Versailles.
A female character says that there is: ‘A vile rumor that has Versailles buzzing’, while some of the other women conspire to have Jeanne removed from court.
‘You are in danger, madam,’ a male character tells Jeanne,’ as they show critics quotes praising Depp’s performance, his first ever use of the French language.
Louis is told that ‘the union between France and Austria is at stake’, while Louis tells another character: ‘You know what must be done.’
Jeanne is told, ‘You’re starting to see the king’s dark side’, while Louis tells Jeanne he’s in love with her, but she insists: ‘This isn’t love.’
The trailer ends with a series of dramatic shots of Louis and Jeanne as a woman says their tryst is ‘grotesque’ as Louis’ handler reacts.
‘No, it’s Versailles’ as the trailer ends.
