Billionaire oil heiress Ivy Getty files for divorce from husband Tobias Engel after four years of marriage
Billionaire heiress Ivy Love Getty – the great-granddaughter of oil magnate J. Paul Getty – has filed for divorce from her husband Tobias ‘Toby’ Engel.
The artist and model, 29, called it quits on her marriage to the photographer and actor after four years together, according to Page six.
Getty filed for divorce in January. The couple have a prenup in place to protect their billionaire family’s assets.
“It’s clear that Ivy is a member of the Getty family and is wary of legal entanglements,” a source told the publication.
The couple had a private wedding in December 2020 before holding a more public and lavish ceremony in November 2021.

According to the court documents, it is a ‘contested’ divorce.
That means the former couple didn’t settle with a mediator until Getty filed the papers.
Ivy has since deleted a number of photos with Engel from her Instagram, although he is still in some carousel posts from their wedding.
Getty and Engel first met through a family member and later began dating after reuniting at a Paris Fashion Week event before tying the knot.
In 2021, the glamorous duo celebrated their union with a San Francisco wedding at the Getty mansion, a year after tying the knot privately.
At that time Ivy told Vogue, ‘It’s like everything I could have dreamed of and more. So it’s crazy when something so magical comes true because you thought about it but didn’t actually think it would. Miracles do happen.’
In 2022, she shared never-before-seen photos of the lavish San Francisco wedding on her social media.
Ivy said ‘I do’ to Toby at the San Francisco City Hall reception and wowed her guests, which included actress Anya Taylor-Joy.
The snaps shared a glimpse behind the scenes and show off the many designer dresses she wore to the event.

‘So incredibly special. A year,’ the socialite wrote on her social page with a heart emoji in a post addressed to her husband.
She shared several photos of the couple’s nuptials, including of their wedding reception, where she wore an ivory lace dress with a sheer skirt and choker collar.
Ivy shared several photos of designers adding the finishing touches to her wedding gowns on her big day, including her dazzling Galiano number, which was adorned with broken mirrors.
Snaps also showed the bridal party and Ivy’s rescue dog, who wore her own bridesmaid dress.
Among the guests at the A-list event were members of Ivy’s family, including her aunt Vanessa Getty and her first cousin, transgender model and activist Nats Getty.
Also at the exclusive event were designer Wes Gordon, designer Mimi Wade, influencer Marta Mae, musician Petite Meller, fashion editor Hamish Bowles, activist Marsha Molinari, model Laura Hanson Sims, British TV host Fletcher Cowan and filmmaker Christian Coppola.
Ivy is the great-granddaughter of oil magnate Jean Paul Getty and granddaughter of Gordon Peter Getty, who was on the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans before his passing.
Her father, John Gilbert, died of a fentanyl overdose and heart complications in 2020 at the age of 52.

The most eye-catching element of her ceremony was definitely the dress she wore to the after party, which she said could have been designed by none other than John Galliano for Maison Margiela.
The dress has a corset in the color of Ivy’s skin tone, which was padded at the hips to make her waist look smaller. It was covered with tulle, which was then topped with mirror fragment dress that was threaded together like jewelry.
“My grandmother always wore John Galliano’s designs,” Ivy told Vogue. ‘My grandmother always admired him so it felt like she was there with me through all of this.’
On the big day, she added Louboutin heels and her sapphire engagement ring, which she got when her husband proposed in Capri.
Getty’s great-grandfather owned Getty Oil and was once the richest man in the world. He is also famous for refusing to pay his grandson John Paul Getty III’s $17 million ransom after he was kidnapped in the 70s.
He eventually paid $2.2 million after John’s severed ear was sent to a newspaper in Rome.
The Getty family drama was most recently depicted in the 2018 FX TV show Trust.
