Adorable kitten almost dies after being dyed HOT PINK by cruel female owner who also ‘cleaned’ the tiny cat’s fur with Windex and rubbing alcohol
A cruel cat owner painted her cat hot pink and wiped it down with Windex and rubbing alcohol, leaving the tiny adorable kitten in shock and barely reacting.
Elizabeth Zurcher-Wood, 39, brought her kitten to an animal hospital near Portland, Oregon, earlier this month, saying she cleaned the animal with a mixture of Windex, Spic and Span and rubbing alcohol because he had diarrhea.
Veterinarians found the kitten “in shock, severely hypothermic and hypoglycemic” when he was brought in due to toxic chemicals found in household cleaning products.
The good news is that the kitten is now “recovering and receiving great care in a foster home,” said Laura Klink of the Oregon Humane Society. COIN 6.
Zurcher-Wood is charged with cruelty to animals. She pleaded not guilty last Friday and remains in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center, the newspaper reported. Oregon Live.

When the kitten was brought to Dove Lewis Veterinary Emergency Hospital, he was still soaked in the cleaning solution.
Veterinarians said the cat’s body temperature dropped sharply due to the rubbing alcohol. Staff returned the kitten to the suspects, although it is unclear why they did so despite receiving treatment for the cat.
Zurcher-Wood was arrested Thursday when the motel manager alerted police and tried to evict her from the Deluxe Inn motel in Portland.
She was found at a motel with a pink kitten and a Chihuahua in a stroller. The officer also reported that he saw “burn marks on the kitten’s head.”
The cat was taken into custody by the Humane Society and Zurcher-Wood was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals.
Zurcher-Wood “did not appear to understand that the chemicals were toxic” to the animal, Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Austin G. Buhl said.
During Friday’s hearing, her lawyer asked that the case be dismissed due to a shortage of public defenders.
“The alleged victim in this case is a feline, so if anything this is a very average crime against property, not against a person, no real reasonable victims,” the lawyer told the court.
The judge overturned the decision: “I had the opportunity to try the charges of second-degree cruelty to animals, and the court found sufficient evidence.”
“I’m not going to close this case, I’m giving the state another six weeks to try to find someone who can help you, okay?”
During Friday’s hearing, her lawyer asked that the case be dismissed due to a shortage of public defenders.
Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Austin G. Buhl noted that Zurcher-Wood “did not appear to understand that the chemicals were toxic” to the animal.
Zurcher-Wood is currently being held in jail for violating her probation after she was convicted in July 2022 of first-degree bias crime and attempted second-degree assault.
In August 2021, she attempted to kidnap a six-year-old boy and threatened his parents, brandishing a machete and hurling racial slurs.
“She was like, ‘This is my baby, give me back my baby.’ I’m going to kill you guys if you don’t give me the baby,’ and that’s when she stabbed with this machete,” said Shanai Grant, the boy’s mother. KOIN in 2021.
“I don’t know if it was racially motivated or if it was mental illness, but she was convinced that we had her child and it wasn’t our child and she wanted it back,” she added.
Zurcher-Wood was found unfit to assist in her defense and was subsequently sent to Oregon State Hospital for treatment.
She returned to court last May while taking psychotropic medications, according to court records.
A month later, she pleaded no contest to charges of attempted second-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief and menacing and was sentenced to three years probation.
Last week, Zurcher-Wood was found to be in violation of her probation for the new charge and failure to report to her probation officer in October.
She is due in court this Friday for violating her probation on an attempted kidnapping charge.
She is expected to appear in court again on the animal cruelty charge at the end of January next year.
