Bashing victim Muhammad Bilal opens up after he was allegedly attacked in Adelaide by three people during a Facebook Marketplace meet-up to sell his Subaru Impreza
A South Australian man who was allegedly brutally beaten when he arranged a meeting to sell his Subaru Impreza has spoken out about his ordeal.
Muhammad Bilal, 31, posted a car for sale on Facebook Marketplace and received a response from an interested “buyer” who sent him a video response and a copy of his driver’s license.
He arranged to meet a man in the car park of the Avoca Hotel in Clarence Gardens in Adelaide’s south on Tuesday evening at around 7.20pm but was instead allegedly attacked by three people.
He said they demanded his phone number, saying they would use it to transfer money, otherwise they threatened to just take his car. When Bilal refused, they allegedly assaulted him and then stole his keys and thousands of dollars in cash.
“They (were) just smashing the glass in my face,” Mr Bilal told 7News.
31-year-old Muhammad Bilal posted an advertisement for the sale of his car and arranged to meet the buyer, but he was allegedly attacked and the car was stolen.
Paramedics took him to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he spent two nights and was discharged on Thursday.
“I will say this is not safe for the community,” he added.
“If it happened to me, it could happen to someone else.”
Following a police investigation, two men and a woman have been charged over the alleged assault.
