New Dodgers teammates Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto wasted no time getting together and going out to dinner on Saturday night.

The Japanese duo had signed huge contracts with the Los Angeles team in recent weeks and were clearly in the mood to celebrate.

Ohtani completed the sport’s biggest contract earlier this month, signing a deal worth $700 million over the next 10 years.

The Dodgers then won the race to sign pitcher Yamamoto over the New York Yankees and Mets, agreeing to a $325 million, 12-year contract.

After Yamamoto’s deal was completed, reports surfaced that he chose the Dodgers because he desperately wanted to play with Ohtani.

And now he was already starting to form a friendship with his new teammate when they went out to dinner on Saturday night.

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, founder of the Nobu restaurant chain, posted a photo of them holding a plate of food together at his restaurant Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi said Friday morning that Yamamoto has chosen the American destination to play with Ohtani, the only more marketable player on the market this winter.

“I was told by a source who knows the Japanese baseball scene very well… Yamamoto just wanted to be a Dodger and play with Ohtani in a random order,” he said.

Ohtani signed with the Dodgers on Dec. 9, and Yamamoto announced his intention to come to Los Angeles late Thursday.

The New York Mets reportedly offered the same contract to Yamamoto, although the New York Yankees’ offer is believed to have exceeded $300 million.

Yamamoto signed a massive contract with the Dodgers without ever playing in Major League Baseball.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Ohtani would take the Dodgers rookie to the Los Angeles Rams NFL game on Thursday night.

But it seemed like the pitcher was on the other side of town signing a 10-year, $325 million contract to join Ohtani on the Dodgers because it was announced that same night.

It’s been a busy few days for Ohtani after he received the VIP treatment at SoFi Stadium.

The Japanese sensation was all smiles as he posed in a Rams jersey with No. 17 on the back before kickoff.

Ohtani then watched the Rams beat the New Orleans Saints 30–22 from the suite and was later introduced in the locker room to head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford.
