Biden rakes in $15 MILLION in donations after fundraisers at homes of the Hollywood elite: President rakes in huge haul after parties with Shonda Rhimes, Barbara Streisand and Steven Spielberg

  • Biden brought together the most of any president or presidential candidate in one visit to Los Angeles.
  • It topped Obama’s 2012 trip, which included a fundraiser at George Clooney’s home.
  • Biden and Jill Biden attended six fundraising events during whirlwind weekend visit

President Joe Biden left Los Angeles with $15 million more in his campaign coffers than he started with after a series of fundraisers attended by a bevy of stars including Barbra Streisand, Steven Spielberg, Shonda Rhimes, Rob Reiner and David Geffen .

President and first lady Jill Biden attended six private fundraising events and sat shiva at the home of television icon Norman Lear during her whirlwind three-day stay on the West Coast.

The time paid off with a profit of $15 million, notes the Hollywood Reporter, citing a source close to Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-chairman of DreamWorks and the Biden campaign.

That’s the most for a single visit to Los Angeles of any president or presidential candidate, Katzenberg told Deadline Hollywood, including Barack Obama’s May 2012 trip, which included a fundraiser at George Clooney’s home. This trip raised approximately $15 million.

The Bidens spent the weekend behind closed doors with major donors and headlined a massive Hollywood-focused fundraiser Friday night at the Holmby Hills home of James Costos, the former U.S. ambassador to Spain, and his designer partner Michael Smith.

The celebrity-filled audience at the event was joined by several prominent California Democrats, including Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Adam Schiff and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

In his fundraising appearances, Biden has increasingly focused his ire on Donald Trump, who leads the polls for the Republican presidential nomination.

The president criticized Trump’s suggestions that he would not rule as a dictator “except for the first day.”

“Thank God it’s just one day,” Biden joked.

“He supports political violence rather than rejecting it.”

He also called Trump “the first losing president and candidate in history to refuse to throw out the outcome” of the 2020 race.

“He refused to appear at my inauguration. I can’t say I was disappointed,” Biden said. Then, to applause and laughter, he added, “I don’t think he’ll show up at the next inauguration.”

With the end of a long strike by Hollywood actors, Biden headed to the wealthy West Coast to raise much-needed campaign cash ahead of an end-of-year deadline.

His campaign aims to raise approximately $67 million in the fourth quarter of the year.

“This is an incredibly successful evening,” the president said at his first fundraiser, which begins the weekend Friday night, joking that he didn’t want to talk for long because he was “the only thing standing between you and Lenny Kravitz.”

At some of his events, Biden was followed by a large group of pro-Palestinian protesters. Protesters also followed him throughout his Thanksgiving holiday in Nantucket.

They accused the president of supporting genocide.
