BMW driver, in her 20s, dies in horror crash with taxi – as four injured people are rushed to hospital

A woman in her 20s has died in a horrific taxi crash which also left four people injured in hospital.

Horrifying photographs showed two wrecked cars, including a black BMW driven by a woman, with their airbags deployed.

The fatal collision happened at around 2am on Sunday morning on Highgate Road in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.

Police and firefighters remained on the scene until noon investigating the crash.

The crash site, located directly under a railway bridge, was covered by a large blue screen, which also showed a damaged black taxi.

Officers and firefighters responded to the scene following the fatal collision which happened shortly before 2am on Sunday.

The taxi driver was taken to hospital with “potentially life-changing” injuries, West Midlands Police confirmed.

Two men and another woman in the BMW were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fire support vehicles were also at the scene.

Specially trained investigators have contacted the woman’s family and Highgate Road remains closed while officers investigate the cause of the crash.
