Bronny James falls in his long-awaited college basketball debut for USC just five months after suffering a cardiac arrest in practice… and legendary dad LeBron watches on from courtside

After a long recovery process from cardiac arrest, Bronny James made his college basketball debut last July for the USC Trojans.

The team tweeted an image of Bronny’s jersey hanging in his locker before kickoff, and he was seen performing windmill dunks during warmups.

All this happened while his father, LeBron James, looked on less than 24 hours after winning the first intraseason tournament in NBA history.

On July 24 this year, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect.

He spent three days in hospital before being released on July 27. He has since been nursing the injury in hopes of returning to court.

Bronny James is back and will play basketball in his debut for the USC Trojans on Sunday.

All this happened while his father, LeBron James, watched the NBA Cup win.

Bronny checked in with 12:58 left in the first half, and LeBron captured the moment on video.

His first stint on the court involved him grabbing a rebound before leaving. He later added a monster chase block from behind, emulating one of his father’s most famous NBA moments.

But ultimately, Bronny’s debut served as a framework for further development rather than an announcement of his arrival.

He finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 16 minutes of play on 1 of 3 shooting from the field – all shots from behind the arc.

Those 16 minutes weren’t enough to help his team overcome a shocking 84-79 overtime loss to Long Beach State.

Stars Isaiah Collier and Vincent Iwuchukwu each scored 15 points, while Boogie Ellis also dropped 14 points.

But the Trojans shot just 26 of 64 from the field (40.6 percent) and a dismal 7 of 31 from 3-point range (22.6 percent).

Bronny made all of his shots from three-point range, scoring 1 of 3 in 16 minutes.

Unfortunately for Bronny and company, the Trojans lost to Long Beach State in overtime 84-79.

By comparison, LBSU shot 42 percent from the field and 31 percent from beyond the arc, but two starters (Jadon Jones and Lassina Traore) fouled out.

However, they made 3 of 6 shots and 4 of 5 from the free throw line in overtime to seal the win.

The Trojans now fall to 5-4 on the season. They play at Auburn next Sunday.
