After very little speculation and much fanfare, the Indiana Fever have selected Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Clark, who led Iowa to back-to-back national title games, will stay in the Midwest and will hope to help turn around a struggling Indiana franchise that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2016.
But now one of the best to ever grace a college basketball court is headed to the professional ranks, where she will team up with last year’s No. 1 overall pick – Aliyah Boston.
Clark left Iowa with the record for most points ever scored by a man or woman in college basketball history.
But she was never able to taste the success of a championship in college — falling to LSU in the 2023 title game and South Carolina in the 2024 title game.

Clark became the first WNBA or NBA player to wear a Prada ensemble at the draft
Clark celebrated at the draft in Brooklyn, walking up to the stage where she was greeted by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert with a hug and a Fever jersey.
She’s already hyped enough to warrant an appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend.
Tonight, Clark stepped out wearing head-to-toe Prada — becoming the first WNBA or NBA player to be dressed by the design house for a draft.
According to Spotrac, Clark’s rookie contract will be worth $338,056 paid out over four years – with a fourth-year option.
After Clark was taken first overall, picks two and three were Stanford’s Cameron Brink to the Los Angeles Sparks and South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso to the Chicago Sky. After the top three, Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson was again taken fourth by the Sparks, and Jacy Sheldon of Ohio State was collected fifth by the Dallas Wings.
Clark will take the field for his first regular season game in about a month – when the Fever travel to take on the Connecticut Sun on May 14.
