A New York man has been sentenced to four years in prison in California after he was caught on video beating his wife in the early morning by his six-year-old son.

Miguel Lazaro-Castillo, 38, pleaded no contest to charges of domestic violence, false imprisonment and child abuse in October.

The incident resulted from a 911 call at 2 a.m. on Oct. 9 from one of Lazaro-Castillo’s three children.

They received a call from a suspect who allegedly injured his wife at a home in the 4200 block of Larson Street.

When officers arrived, they found Lazaro-Castillo’s wife lying face down on the floor, surrounded by bloody tissues, Yuba County Sheriff Clint Curry said.

Lazaro-Castillo sat on top of his bloodied wife with their three children – ages 15, 14 and nine – also in the room.

The man initially denied hitting his wife, saying he had no idea where all the blood came from.

However, authorities discovered that the attack was actually recorded by the couple’s nine-year-old son.

During the clip, which lasts more than six minutes, Lazaro-Castillo repeatedly hits his wife in the head and face.

At one point in the video, one of their children tries to protect their mother by covering her with his arms.

Lazaro-Castillo responded to this defense by hitting his daughter in the leg and attacking his wife again.

He ends up turning his wife over and forcing her to lie face down on the carpet for a while.

Sheriff’s deputies later discovered that Lazaro-Castillo, his wife and one of their children were intoxicated.

Lazaro-Castillo was arrested by Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputy Bonifacio Paredes and the children were placed in protective custody.

Despite having no criminal record, Lazaro-Castillo was sentenced to a maximum penalty of four years in prison.

County officials said the sentence was imposed due to the “cruelty of his actions and complete disregard for his children.”
