Carol Vorderman ‘snubbed meeting with GB News chief’ after announcing she was stepping down her BBC Radio Wales job

Carol Vorderman has “cancelled a meeting” with the head of GB News after announcing she was leaving her job at BBC Radio Wales.

CEO Angelos Frangopoulos allegedly asked to meet her after she left her job, but she ignored his message.

A source reportedly told the 62-year-old he wouldn’t touch GB News with a “barge pole”.

Vorderman resigned after she broke new social media rules at the BBC by criticizing the government on social media.

GB News’ attempt comes after presenters and guests made “vile” comments about Vorderman on air.

A TV source said: “They seem to have forgotten how disgusting their rhetoric towards her was.” Mirror reported.

Presenter Patrick Christie was forced to apologize last month after a GB News guest commented on air about a celebrity’s breasts.

The channel has attempted to detox following the controversy surrounding the firing of Lawrence Fox over comments about journalist Ava Evans.

GB News suspended Fox after he was condemned for saying: “Who would want to crap that?” in a series of sexist comments about a political journalist.

He also called her a “little woman” and asked: “Show me one self-respecting man who would ever want to get into bed with this woman who isn’t an incel?”

A GB News source told The Mirror: “There has been no firm offer, but we are always open to both left- and right-wing voices on the channel.”

Former Countdown star Vorderman, who worked at BBC radio for five years, said she is “not ready to stop” expressing her “strong beliefs” on social media.

She added: “Consequently, I broke the new rules and BBC Wales management decided I should leave. Each of us must make our own decision.”

The BBC introduced new social media rules for its presenters following outrage earlier this year over a tweet by Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker comparing government policies in Rwanda to those of Nazi Germany.

This prevents famous stars from attacking political parties and individual politicians, or discussing controversial issues before elections or referendums. The rules apply when their show airs and for two weeks before and after.
