Casey Donovan reveals exciting new career move as she takes on iconic role: ‘I grew up watching the movies’

Casey Donovan takes on an iconic new role after being cast as the lead in the Sister Act stage musical.

The singer plays the role made famous by none other than Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 film, stepping into Sister Deloris Van Cartier’s dancing shoes.

“It’s huge, it’s exciting, it’s all the things,” Casey shared Daily Telegraph this week.

“It’s nerve-wracking but I tend to rise to the challenge and I’m looking forward to challenging myself in the best possible way,” she added.

‘I grew up watching movies, it was the movie of my childhood.’

Sister Act opens at the Capitol Theater in Sydney in August and the Regent Theater Melbourne in November.

Things are also going well for Casey in her personal life, as she is happily in a relationship with girlfriend Renee Sharples.

“I’m in a very happy secure place in my life,” the 35-year-old singer shared Daily Telegraph.

She went on to say that she has ‘never been happier’ and her relationship has made her feel more confident.

‘It took me finding the love of my life and kissing a few frogs – and going through a very challenging part of my life – to find confidence and happiness in myself.’
