Tanay Craze has revealed the sobering reality of chasing her Olympic dream when the Australian was forced to move overseas to achieve her goal.

Craze, a three-time national champion in the heptathlon, has traveled halfway around the world in an effort to perform at her best at the Olympic trials and next year’s Paris Games.

She settled in Germany, where she will join the team of coach Jörg Roos. The move cost her thousands of dollars and forced her to divorce her fiancé.

While she trained with coach Glynis Nunn on the Gold Coast, Craze failed to qualify for any funding despite finishing fifth at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

As a result, the 29-year-old has no access to massage or physiotherapy and has to work full-time to reach her Olympic goal.

Craze moved to Germany to prepare for the Roos team earlier this year and took advantage, qualifying for the World Championships. She later tore her hamstring and withdrew from the competition.

However, the success she achieved at Bayer’s TSV complex in Leverkusen convinced Craze to leave Australia and go all in on his Parisian dream.

“Honestly, it was probably one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made in my life,” Crase said. Corporation News.

“But I definitely don’t regret it. I think it was the right decision for what I want to achieve.”

Craze works as the Participation and Inclusion Manager at Little Athletics Australia, a job she does remotely.

“I had to be completely prepared for this,” she said.

Craze was candid when discussing the reality of living on a tight budget, admitting that there are times when she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to put food on the table.

“I’m not going to lie. There are moments of self-doubt and there are times when I don’t trust the process and all these wonderful words of affirmation that I keep repeating to myself and posting on social media or in any reports or news articles that I do,” she said.

“The reality of being an athlete is that we have our challenges, we have our bad moments.

“We have these mental health issues, day in and day out, and we have these financial issues.

“We have moments when we look at our bank accounts and wonder, ‘How am I going to afford food or rent this week?’ – and that’s because I’ve heard so many different stories, and it’s not just me, we all go through this.”
