Chris Christie believes Hunter Biden will definitely serve jail time even with a PLEA and won’t get another ‘sweetheart deal’ after it spectacularly collapsed in court

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie predicted Friday that Hunter Biden will have to serve prison time even if he signs a new plea agreement.

Christie, who is running for the Republican nomination in 2024, spoke with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Friday afternoon.

Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday night on tax evasion charges. Federal prosecutors said the president’s son spent nearly $5 million on a lavish lifestyle between 2016 and 2019 while failing to pay $1.4 million in federal taxes.

“I’m sure he could negotiate a plea deal at this point, but it wouldn’t be the kind of good deal he’s gotten in the past,” said Christie, the former federal prosecutor. “And my guess is that because of the combination of the gun charges and the tax charges, Hunter Biden will have to serve time in prison.

The tax charges brought against Hunter Biden carry a maximum penalty of 17 years in prison.

“He’s facing what he should have faced from the beginning, which is a felony charge,” Christie explained. “When you spend millions of dollars on tax evasion. This is a criminal offense. The same goes for gun crime charges.

“And you know, he’s facing these charges because the government has evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed these crimes,” the former prosecutor added.

In September, Special Prosecutor David Weiss indicted Hunter on three firearms-related charges, including making a false statement on a federal firearms form, making a false statement in a gun store and possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.

Biden Jr. denied drug use when he applied for the gun in 2018.

Federal law prohibits drug addicts from owning firearms.

The charges come after the so-called sweetheart deal fell apart in court in August.

“I said for weeks before that the judge would never approve such a sweet plea deal, and I think his lawyers gave him terrible advice,” Christie said.

Christie predicted Hunter's legal ordeal would last beyond Election Day 2024. it’s time to start doing this before the elections,” he said.

Hunter Biden’s ‘wild’ spending habits revealed in new indictment on nine criminal charges

Hunter’s weapons charges carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

The indictment unveiled Thursday contained a string of embarrassing allegations about the first son’s spending, including that he spent $870,000 on prostitutes, sex club memberships and porn.

Hunter “spent the money on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing and other personal items, in short, on everything except his taxes,” the indictment says.

That breakdown includes $683,000 for “various women,” as well as nearly $400,000 for “clothing and accessories.”

It also claims he spent $188,000 on “adult entertainment” and withdrew $1.6 million from ATMs.

This period of Hunter’s life is well documented in his memoir, Beautiful Things, which chronicles his addiction to alcohol and crack cocaine.

The government report says Biden Jr. spent $71,869 on rehabilitation during that period.

The two incidents come as President Joe Biden already faces an uphill battle for re-election and Republicans are more than happy to highlight Hunter’s mistakes and try to tie the president to his son’s foreign business deals in Ukraine and China.

However, Christie predicted Friday that Hunter’s legal drama will extend beyond the 2024 presidential election.

“I’m guessing that the gun charges could potentially come before the election, but as far as the tax charges that were just filed, I’m guessing there won’t be enough time for that to start before the election,” Christie told Mitchell. .
