Dennis Bergkamp has said he still has big ambitions to own an English football club after previously failing to buy Wycombe Wanderers and, more recently, Arsenal.
The Gunners legend has previously spoken passionately about his hopes of becoming an investor in England’s top professional club, but has previously failed twice.
Bergkamp is widely regarded as one of the greatest Premier League strikers ever and he has outlined his plans to take control of an AFL side he hopes to take to England’s top flight.
The Dutchman once came close to taking control of Wycombe when he was backed by a group of former players and teammates including Dirk Kuyt, Ronald Koeman and Henrik Larsson, but the deal fell through as the club opted for another buyer.
However, their inspiration to become team owners remained, as Bergkamp explained. Mirror that he hopes to buy a League One team.

Wycombe Wanderers was a good project and we got very far along it. It only failed at the end,” he said.
“Together with Philip Cocu, Ronald Koeman, Dirk Kuyt, Henrik Larsson and (agent) Rob Jansen, we were going to buy the shares.
“I still have dreams of developing players, running an academy and using all our knowledge and experience to promote promotion.
“Not with a foreign billionaire who invests a lot of money just to rise quickly. If you have a group of former top players, then you are simply starting at a lower level.
Arsenal legend wants to invest in League One club and help them earn promotion
Bergkamp had previously been backed by former Liverpool player Dirk Kuyt in his plans to buy Wycombe.
“I am convinced that with a First League club, with real football knowledge, you can reach the championship within five years, maximum 10 years,” he added.
Most recently, Bergkamp was linked to a group led by Spotify owner Daniel Ek that unsuccessfully tried to negotiate a buyout of his former club Arsenal.
Current owner Stan Kroenke refused to sell the English giants two years ago and Bergkamp has no plans to try to invest in the elite club again.
“We’re not talking about the Premier League. This league is very difficult to enter. “I moved to Arsenal along with some other Arsenal legends, including Daniel Ek, but it’s hard to force the owner of such a big club to sell for such sums in this day and age.”
