Dolly Parton fans defend the star over the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit during the halftime show

Dolly Parton fans rushed to her defense after she was trolled for wearing a skimpy outfit to the Thanksgiving game for the Dallas Cowboys.

The country legend caused a stir after performing during the game’s Halftime Show wearing her version of the Dallas Cowboys’ famous cheerleader costume.

The 77-year-old stunned in white hot pants, a cropped blue top that showed off her cleavage and midriff and a tiny waistcoat and matching belt with the Cowboy team’s signature blue stars on it.

The petite Jolene singer, whose belly button was covered with a large diamond star, proudly showed off her age-defying figure as she strutted around the stage performing some of her hit songs.

But while the crowd of American Football fans was thrilled, many people took to Twitter to brand the star’s appearance as ‘inappropriate’ for her age.

One wrote: “I love Dolly but her outfit tonight was for a 17 year old, not a 77 year old!”

“Dolly finally gives in to thirst with this, lol, this is a bit inappropriate,” said another.

“Dolly has been on the phone with her fellow old retiree Madonna I see lol,” said a third, while a fourth commented: “Are you ok with 77 year old Dolly Parton dressing like a 20 year old Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.”

But her fans weren’t having it. One clap back: “Yes..Dolly can pull this off with class.”

A second added: “Why do some people complain. You should be happy to know it’s possible to look like this at her age.”

While a third said: “To anyone complaining about how Dolly Parton dressed tonight, that’s who she is and always has been. A damn queen.”

Patron is promoting her latest album, Rockstar, which was released on November 17.
