Dozens of Palestinians ‘are captured by IDF, stripped and paraded around Gaza’

At least 100 Palestinian men were photographed stripped to their underwear, bound and kneeling after they were reportedly captured by Israeli soldiers in northern Gaza.

Shocking footage published by Israeli media appears to show Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers rounding up dozens of men and transporting them on the back of trucks.

The men allegedly surrendered in the Jabaliya refugee camp and other areas in northern Gaza, and Israeli newspaper Walla said they were stripped “to rule out the possibility that they were carrying weapons.”

Dozens of captives reportedly paraded through Palestine Square in Gaza City, with shoes and sandals strewn across the street in one image as the men were publicly humiliated.

Asked about the images, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari appeared to confirm that the men had been captured, but did not specify whether the photographs were of Hamas members or civilians.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said Israeli troops had detained and interrogated hundreds of people suspected of links to militants in the Gaza Strip.

Khagari told reporters: “Jabaliya and Shejaya are centers of gravity… for terrorists and we are fighting them.

“They hide underground, come out, and we fight them. Whoever is left in these areas is coming out of the tunnel shafts and some of the buildings, and we are finding out who is affiliated with Hamas and who is not. We will arrest them all and interrogate them.”

On Wednesday afternoon, Walla said Israeli soldiers from the 261st Reserve Brigade had arrested and were “investigating” those in the photographs.

The news site said those arrested were not expected to be transported to Israel and that the investigation was being conducted in the Gaza Strip “because there is a possibility that the suspects are innocent people living in a humanitarian shelter nearby.”

There were unconfirmed messages that the men were captured in UN-run schools in the north of the territory.

News outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported that its correspondent Diaa Al-Kahout was among those detained and was taken to an undisclosed location.

The images were the first to show such detentions during the war between Israel and Hamas.

After weeks of war raging in the north, the Israeli army is increasingly targeting southern Gaza, including areas where it had previously urged civilians to evacuate from the north.

Israel said today that Hamas fired rockets from humanitarian areas in southern Gaza.

The Israeli military shared surveillance video and photos on Channel X today and wrote: “Yesterday at 15:59, Hamas terrorists fired 12 rockets towards Beersheba.

“The rockets were launched near the tents of Gazan citizens who were evacuated to the south of the Gaza Strip for their protection, as well as near UN facilities.”

As part of the post, the IDF shared photos they said showed the launch site near the tents of civilians evacuated from Gaza cities.

“Yesterday at 12:52, Hamas launched a rocket from the humanitarian zone. The rocket landed in the Gaza Strip and put many Gazans at risk,” the IDF added.

It comes as the Israeli military expands its offensive in southern Gaza, worsening dire humanitarian conditions in the area.

The IDF attacked Rafah twice overnight, residents said, as U.N. officials warned there were no safe spots left in the besieged area.

UN representatives say There are no safe places in Gaza nearly a week after Israel expanded its offensive into the southern half of the territory.

Heavy fighting in and around the town of Khan Yunis, where Israel says Hamas leaders have strongholds, has displaced tens of thousands of people and cut off much of Gaza from humanitarian aid supplies.

More than 80 percent of the territory’s population has already fled their homes.

Two months into the war, the persistent offensive raised new international alarm. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres used rarely used power warn the Security Council of a looming “humanitarian catastrophe” in the Gaza Strip and called on members to demand a ceasefire.

Guterres directly invoked Article 99 of the UN Charter, which allows the secretary-general to bring to the attention of the Council any matter that he believes threatens international peace and security.

In the entire history of the world community, this power has been used only a few times.
