The Israeli military announced that eight soldiers, including a senior official, were killed in fighting with Hamas forces in the Gaza Strip.
Lieutenant Colonel Tomer Greenberg, 35, Major Roi Meldasi, 23, Major Moshe Avram Bar-On, 23, Sergeant Achia Daskal, 19, Captain Liel Hayo, 22, Major Ben Shelley, 26, Major Rom Hecht, 20 years and Sergeant Oriya Yaakov, 19 people died on Tuesday.
Soldiers have been killed in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip and three others seriously wounded as the war between Israel and Hamas enters its 67th day.
Seven soldiers were killed in a bomb attack in the Shahjaiya area, the highest number of casualties in a single incident in the Israel Defense Forces since the war began on October 7.

Five of the Israeli soldiers killed in the battle in the northern Gaza Strip were members of the Golani Brigade, including Lt. Col. Greenberg, who was the commander of the 13th Battalion.
Also killed were Major Meldasi, a company commander of the 13th Battalion, Major Bar-On, a company commander of the 51st Battalion, Sergeant Daskal, a soldier of the 51st Battalion, and Captain Hayo, a platoon leader of the 51st Battalion.
Major Shelley and Major Rom Hecht of the Special Rescue Tactical Unit (669) were killed in the same battle in the Shahjaia area.
The IDF also announced that Sergeant Yaakov, a member of the 614th Battalion of the School of Combat Engineering, was killed in the northern Gaza Strip.
Hamas militants opened fire on Golani forces in the area on Tuesday before Israeli soldiers approached the source of the gunfire.
A bomb then exploded, injuring several soldiers and losing contact.
Other Israeli forces attempted to rescue the soldiers with air power and artillery, but a second bomb was detonated.
The third group tried to find separated soldiers who had been injured in the battle.
