England manager Gareth Southgate is keeping a watchful eye on Everton duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of Euro 2024, amid their impressive performances for Sean Dyche’s side
England manager Gareth Southgate personally tested Everton duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Sunday.
Southgate’s side won’t play until March when they take on Brazil and Belgium in friendlies at Wembley, their last two games before the manager selects his squad for Euro 2024.
And the England manager paid particular attention to Toffees pair Branthwaite and Calvert-Lewin during his weekend trip to Merseyside.
Branthwaite, 21, has impressed under Sean Dyche this season and was considered for the previous squad last month.
The fact that he can play on the left flank of two centre-backs will strengthen Everton’s defensive position, although Harry Maguire, Marc Guey and Levi Colville are also capable of playing alongside John Stones, who is usually positioned on the right.
England manager Gareth Southgate is keeping a close eye on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Three Lions manager was on hand at Goodison Park as Everton beat Chelsea 2-0.
He is also keeping an eye on striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who despite several injuries has returned to impress for the Toffees this season.

Calvert-Lewin’s return to fitness has also been a boost for Southgate, who has been without a traditional centre-forward in his team since Harry Kane.
The Toffees striker has become an integral part of the Southgate team, but injuries have hampered his progress at international level.
Southgate is an admirer of fully fit Calvert-Lewin, but with Ivan Toney’s suspension ending next month, the Brentford striker will also be in contention for a recall.
The Toffees’ victory over Chelsea helped them move four points clear of Luton at the top of the relegation zone.
Although England won’t play until March next year, Southgate is eyeing potential squad members for next summer’s European Championships.
