Erik ten Hag has credited Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire for turning their Manchester United careers around this season.
Both players were the subject of offers from West Ham in the summer but decided to remain at Old Trafford and fight for their places.
McTominay is United’s top scorer with six goals from midfield following his brace against Chelsea in midweek, while Maguire has regained his place in defense and was named Premier League Player of the Month for November.
“They are here, they are great players and they have become part of the team,” Ten Hag said.
“That’s what you expect from every player, you have to strive for that.

McTominay was on the brace side as United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Harry Maguire won the Premier League Player of the Month award for his performances at Manchester United in November.
“I think we have a team and there is internal competition within it. If you want to have a successful season, you need more than 11 players.
“The best team will play in an average season.”
On McTominay’s goal, the United manager added: “Actually from the first moment I saw him, he had a very good instinct to score and he’s a very good striker.”
“It’s no surprise when we bring him in and the way we want to play and deliver balls, he’ll achieve.”
United will be looking to build on their win and make a significant improvement against Chelsea when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.
