Former NFL star Dez Bryant was accused of sexism Saturday night after he said he didn’t like “talking about football with some women.”

Bryant was tweeting about the Bills-Chargers game, suggesting there was something going on between Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs (who finished the game with just 29 yards) when an account apparently belonging to a football fan told him: chill. ‘

“Josh Allen is still a player and Diggs is killing him on the field… No need for all this unnecessary panic, okay?,” said an account belonging to “Laura.”

Former Cowboys wide receiver Bryant then told the woman that she “didn’t know (her role),” and many X users felt his response crossed the line.

“Personally, I don’t like talking about football with some women because they don’t know their role in talking about men as a game,” he wrote.

“I will never tell you how to wear a skirt.”

Fans were quick to criticize the 35-year-old, with one saying: “So sexist.”

“Too much eggnog today mate, time to log off,” joked another.

Another football fan wrote: “I liked you when I was watching the Cowboys with my ex. But this is NOT the correct view. Women love this game and know it just as well as men, and you can say, “Of course!” Women as scapegoats; but tell me what you mean. Hmm, that’s low.

However, Bryant continued to defend his point of view.

“I will never tell a woman how to give birth to a child. I will never tell Serena how to handle a tennis (racket). I will never tell Tiger Woods how to handle a golf club,” he wrote.

“No woman or man who knows little about the game will ever tell me how to do a three-step slant against a man or zone, or an 8-putt against a man or zone, without spending many years playing the game.”

He added that “every woman turns me off when I talk to her,” and said, “You have women who know the game, and those women know I’m not talking about them.”

He also stated, “I may be living with CTE.”

Some women respected Bryant’s opinion.

“Hi, Dez. I believe that I can talk about football with anyone, so I don’t believe you were talking about me,” one wrote. “That’s why I’m not offended.”

Another said: “I’ve heard that you don’t talk to some people about topics you’re knowledgeable about… I don’t agree either, I definitely agree.

They then added: “And that comment about the skirt?” Not so much.’

A first-round pick in 2010, Bryant played eight seasons for the Cowboys and was named to three Pro Bowls while in Dallas.

He played his final season for the Ravens in 2020.
