Fans blast Bruno Fernandes for his ‘AWFUL’ penalty against Chelsea as he gets his ‘worst impression of Jorginho horribly wrong’ with Robert Sanchez saving his ‘pathetic’ spot-kick

  • Manchester United captain misses early penalty against Chelsea
  • Bruno Fernandes’ tame shot was easily saved by Robert Sanchez.
  • Manchester United have snakes in the dressing room, players who don’t run. Bruce, Robson, Keane would never allow this… It all begins

Bruno Fernandes was mocked for his penalty miss against Chelsea on Wednesday which denied Manchester United a chance to take the lead at Old Trafford.

The United captain was given responsibility for the penalty after Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez fouled Anthony in the area.

Fernandez trusted his usual pattern of jumping and jumping on the run-up but neatly slotted the ball into the right side of the net, giving Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez an easy save.

Sanchez has only saved one penalty in the Premier League before saving Fernandes, and the stopper also saved James Ward-Prowse’s 12-yard effort earlier in the season.

United eventually took the lead against Chelsea thanks to Scott McTominay’s opportunistic goal from close range, but football fans were unimpressed by Fernandes’ poor strike.

One viewer commented on Twitter: “Terrible penalty from Bruno. Easy save for Sanchez

Another added: “Pathetic Bruno Fernandes penalty” after Sanchez celebrated his heroic penalty.

Some compared Fernandes’ penalty miss to the way Arsenal midfielder Jorginho braced himself before the penalty.

Both players have similar playing styles and it has largely worked, with Fernandes having missed just three penalties in the Premier League before Wednesday.

“LMAO…Bruno did the worst impression of Jorginho and did it horribly wrong,” was the reaction of one online user.

Another joked: “Bruno, you’re a jumping idiot.” Terrible pen.

The 29-year-old is United’s main penalty taker but recently handed over Marcus Rashford’s duties against Everton before the England international was benched against Chelsea.
