Female pupil shoots dead another student and wounds five others before killing herself at Russian school

A student shot and killed another student and wounded five others at a Russian school today before turning the gun on herself.

Officials said the 14-year-old opened fire with a pump-action shotgun, with reports saying the attack took place in a classroom at the school.

Officials said she killed one student and wounded at least five others before killing herself at a school in the Russian city of Bryansk, police said Thursday.

The victims of the attack on gymnasium No. 5 were taken to the hospital, one of them – a boy – is in serious condition in intensive care.

“According to preliminary data from the investigation, a 14-year-old girl brought a pump-action shotgun to school, from which she shot at her classmates,” the Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement.

“As a result of the incident, two people died (one of them shot), five were injured and have now been taken to a medical facility.”

Investigators are working to determine a motive, the release said.

Students were evacuated from the school and footage was said to have been filmed outside today showing them grouped together outside in the snow.

Bryansk borders Ukraine, and the school is located approximately 65 miles from the border.
