Former Trump aide says Melania was ‘humiliated’ by Stormy Daniels affair allegations and reveals why former first lady will ‘push’ Donald to take the stand in hush money trial.
Melania Trump was ‘humiliated’ by Donald Trump’s affair with Stormy Daniels and will ‘push’ him to take a stand and ‘defend himself’, one of her former aides has said.
“I spent a lot of time with her when the news broke about Stormy Daniels,” Stephanie Grisham said on CNN Wednesday. “And she didn’t take it lightly at all.”
During Melania Trump’s tenure as first lady, Grisham served as her spokesman and chief of staff before resigning on the day of the January 6 uprising. ‘
‘I could imagine her pushing him to stop. I imagine she’ll push him to get on the stand and defend himself,’ Grisham noted.
‘Because this is, it’s very, very embarrassing for her. It’s humiliating for her and I can guarantee you she’s not happy right now and he’s quite worried about it.’
Melania Trump was ‘humiliated’ by Donald Trump’s affair with Stormy Daniels – over the couple at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday
The former president on Tuesday lost his second-last bid to delay his April 15 trial on criminal charges stemming from hush money payments to the former porn star during the 2016 election.
The trial will mark the first time in history that an ex-president has been prosecuted in court.
Trump faces 34 felony counts in the case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, which seeks to accuse Trump of using his business records to hide the $130,000 hush money payment to Daniels.
Daniels claimed she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, shortly after Melania gave birth to their son Barron.
The payments were allegedly made to prevent Daniels from speaking publicly about the affair in the final weeks of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Trump denies the affair and calls the trial a politically motivated ‘witch hunt’.
However, prosecutors allege that Trump reimbursed his then-lawyer Michael Cohen in a series of installment payments processed by his company that prosecutors say were fraudulently disguised as corporate legal expenses in violation of New York law.
Daniels and Cohen are both expected to take the stand as witnesses for the prosecution when the trial begins.
It is still unclear whether Trump will testify. The case is expected to last about six weeks.
Stormy Daniels in New York last month – she claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006
Stephanie Grisham served in Trump’s White House for almost all four years of his presidency – she was Melania’s spokesman and later her chief of staff
The payment to Daniels came to light in 2018 when the Wall Street Journal published the details.
At the time, Melania was first lady and was reportedly blindsided by the report.
She canceled at the last minute to join the president on his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which many saw as a sign of her anger towards him.
And she also notably traveled to Trump’s State of the Union address that year separately from her husband, a break with tradition.
The then first lady wore a white pantsuit to the event – an outfit that was repeatedly dissected. Many noted that the pantsuit was the kind of outfit Hillary Clinton — Donald Trump’s 2016 rival — made famous on the campaign trail.
In addition, white is the color of suffragists, and during Trump’s presidency it was adopted by women as something of an anti-Trump uniform.
Melania also walked into that year’s State of the Union address on the arm of a handsome military aide — who, in her memoir, “I’ll take your questions now,” Grisham noted, noting that Melania had handpicked the particularly beautiful aide to make Trump jealous.
In his book, Grisham also recalled Melania’s refusal to comment on Daniel’s story, saying the then-first lady told her: ‘This is Donald’s problem. He got into this mess. He can fix it himself’.

Grisham also wrote that Melania Trump told her, ‘I don’t want to be like Hillary Clinton, you know what I mean?’ She said Melania was referring to Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky and the now infamous 1998 photo of Hillary, Bill and Chelsea holding hands as they boarded Marine One.
“She went to Marine One and held hands with her husband after Monica news and it didn’t look good,” Grisham, Melania Trump, told her.
