A young girl has died and two women have been injured after a car plowed into them as they walked down a residential street in Birmingham.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Upper Highgate Street at 9.45pm yesterday, following reports that four pedestrians had been mowed down by a vehicle.
Paramedics battled to save the child, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, while two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A second child was also assessed by paramedics but did not require further treatment.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said three ambulances, two paramedics, a MERIT trauma doctor and two emergency medics were sent to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the service said: ‘On arrival crews found a car and four pedestrians had been involved in a collision.
‘One child, a woman, was in a critical condition and paramedics immediately began administering advanced life support.
– Despite everyone’s efforts, unfortunately she could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

‘Two women were treated by medics for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and were airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
‘A fourth patient, a child, was assessed by paramedics but was not injured and was therefore discharged at the scene.’
