Golden Globes nominations 2024: Oppenheimer, Barbie and Killers of the Flower Moon dominate as Martin Scorsese, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio are tipped for awards

The 2024 Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning.
The year’s most anticipated films, Barbie and Oppenheimer, received multiple nominations at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, which will take place in Hollywood on January 7.
Barbie dominated the nominations, taking home nine awards for the blockbuster, including best musical or comedy, as well as acting nominations for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and three original songs from the film.
It was followed by its release date and meme companion “Oppenheimer,” which received eight nominations, including best drama film and actors Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt.
Ryan Gosling is up for best supporting actor, while Margot Robbie was nominated for best actress for her role as Barbie.

Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan are up for best director and best screenplay.
Ryan Gosling is up for best supporting actor, while Margot Robbie was nominated for best actress for her role as Barbie.
Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon was also nominated for numerous awards. Leonardo DiCaprio is up for best male actor in a drama, while Robert De Niro is up for best supporting actor.
The film by the legendary director is also nominated for best dramatic picture.
Scorsese himself was nominated for best director of a motion picture, along with Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Yorgos Lanthimos for “Bad Things,” Celine Song for “Past Lives,” and Barbenheimer duo Gerwig and Nolan.
Three “Succession” actors were nominated for Outstanding TV Male Actor in a Drama Series – Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong.
Also nominated in the same category are Slow Horses’ Gary Oldman, The Last of Us’ Pedro Pascal and The Crown’s Dominic West.
Succession’s Sarah Snook was nominated in the female acting category, along with Helen Mirren for her performance in 1923, Bella Ramsey for her work in The Last of Us and The Crown’s Imelda Staunton.

“The Diplomat”‘s Keri Russell and “The Grudge”‘s Emma Stone were also nominated for best television actress in a drama series.
The nominees for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy were announced at the Golden Globes: Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Alma Poisti, Margot Robbie and Emma Stone.
The 81st Golden Globe Awards will be the first major awards season broadcast to air on the new CBS channel.
And while it may seem similar on the surface to viewers, behind the scenes there have been several tumultuous years since the scoop in the Los Angeles Times.
A 2021 report found that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes on awards, had no Black members.
The panel nominating and voting for the awards now consists of a more diverse group of over 300 people from around the world.
