Hilary Duff says Lizzie McGuire producer Stan Rogow was the ‘very special person’ who fought for her to land show’s lead role… as she pays tribute following his death at 75
Stan Rogow, an Emmy-nominated producer who worked on the comedy series “Lizzie McGuire” (2001-2004), “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” (2003) and the NBC original series “Fame” (1982), died Thursday.
The Brooklyn, New York native died at age 75 while at UCLA Medical Center, according to the release. Hollywood Reporterbut, finally, the inspection staff did not name the official cause of death.
Rogow was an executive producer on The Lizzie McGuire Show under Hilary Duff from 2001 to 2004, where he was twice nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on the show.
After learning the tragic news of his passing, Duff took to her Instagram page to express condolences to his family and thank him for helping build her career in Hollywood.
“Writing this right now brings back so many distant memories of a completely different life,” she began in her lengthy post. “One where I had no idea where I was going or how I got there, but where I had that zeal and blind optimism that comes with youth and your first opportunities to take a step forward.”

Duff, now a 36-year-old mother of three, noted that Rogow was that “special” first person who believed in her as an artist, even though she was still a teenager at the time.
“You really treasure the people who are the first to believe and see something in you, and for me there was a special person who fought for me to get a role that would change the entire course of my life,” she said of Rogov before add “And I’m very sad to hear of his passing today.”
The actress and singer concluded her tribute by expressing her deep gratitude to the man who mentored the then young star.
“Stan, thanks for thinking I had “that special thing.” Thanks for all of Lizzie’s adventures. Thank you for helping create a reality I could never have imagined,” she wrote before sharing, “Thinking of your family and your son Jackson at this time, rest easy Stan x HD.”
During the early years of her acting career, Duff primarily played supporting roles and did extra work until she landed her first starring role in Casper Meets Wendy (1998).
Following this, she was touted for a role in the NBC comedy series Daddio, opposite Michael Chiklis, but was dropped from the cast before the show aired.
But just a week later, Duff landed a starring role in the new Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire.
In addition to being an executive producer, Rogow said he came up with a concept version of the Lizzie McGuire script in which an animated version of the character would convey these thoughts. Wikipedia. This concept became known as “animated Lizzie” and was also voiced by Duff.
In her Instagram post, Duff called Rogow the first “special person” who believed in her talents and fought for her to get the role of Lizzie McGuire.
The actress and singer also thanked Rogov for “thinking I had something special.”
Along with the series, Rogow also worked with Duff on the film Lizzie McGuire (2003); writer, producer and music manager introduced in 2007.
Duff is now a 36-year-old mother of three, married to Matthew Koma, 36; the couple are pictured with son Luca, 11, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie, and their daughters Banks, five, and May, two, during the Christmas holidays.
Hollywood career as a writer, producer and music manager also includes such television shows as Shannon’s Deal (1990-1991), Nowhere Man (1995-1996), State of Grace (2001-2002), Darcy’s Wild Life (2004–2006), “Flight”. 29 Down (2005–2007) and Valemont (2009).
He has also produced a number of films, including Duff reprising her role as Lizzie in Lizzie McGuire (2003).
As a producer, Rogow received three Emmy nominations: one for his “Glorious Work” and two more for his work with Duff on “Lizzie McGuire.”
The father of one leaves behind family members including son Jackson Rogow, who starred in the Cartoon Network series “Dude, Whatever” (2009-2011), grandson Vega and sister Marian.
Diversity reports that a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Sinai Memorial Park and Mortuaries in Los Angeles.
