Willy Wonka star Timothée Chalamet has been warned by Hull locals about visiting the city after he claimed the city has the sexiest accent in the UK.
In an interview with LadBible, Keegan-Michael Key asked the new Wonka actor what kind of accents he’s attracted to.
People assumed it would be French or something else exotic, but he quickly replied: “I like Hull.”
Keegan-Michael, 52, replied, clearly surprised: “Do you like Hull?”
Timothée Chalamet (pictured) was asked which British accent he found attractive. He immediately replied: “Hull.”
Lucy Beaumont, who is from Hull and wrote the sitcom Hull Risen, said she was puzzled as to why he found it attractive.
The Dune actor responded, “Yeah, why is everyone going crazy?” Hull is sexy.”
But he also admitted that he likes the Essex accent and the “middle-aged northern accent”.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5Live, Beaumont said: “I think he’s on drugs.
“I’ve had this accent for 40 years and no one has ever told me it’s sexy.
“He seems like a very nice young man and he should stay away from the area or he will be attacked by middle-aged women from Hull.”
People reacted with shock online too, with one person saying on X/Twitter: “Okay, I’m honestly obsessed with award winning superstar actor Timothée Chalamet accidentally declaring that HULL has the sexiest accent in the UK. He only speaks the facts.”
Another said: “Timothée Chalamet declaring his love for the Hull accent seems like a fever dream.”

Following the Wonka star’s comments, the BBC asked people on the streets of Hull if they agreed that an accent was sexy.
One person said: “Not really.”
Another said: “No one pronounces vowels correctly. We may be reinventing the English language.”
The Wonka star was warned he would be “attacked” by middle-aged women if he ever visited the city.
And another said: “Yeah, that’s the sexiest accent.”
In the same clip, the Call Me By Your Name sensation called Tom Holland the “ultimate master of rizz.”
Timothée, who co-starred with Tom’s girlfriend, actress Zendaya, in Dune, also said the star “looks better than him” during the candid chat.
Timothy and Keegan-Michael were asked if the Oscar nominee was better looking than Tom, to which Timothy responded: “Oh, man. You’re all going South!”
