Pete Wicks has revealed why he thinks ITV made the decision to send him to greet I’m A Celebrity’s Sam Thompson as he exits the final.
According to Pete, despite Zara being eliminated from the show faster than everyone thought, the reality star said it was “first come, first served” so he didn’t give up his ticket down.
But speaking with HELLO! a magazine that could explain why he was chosen and not Zara.
He said: “To be honest, I think ITV put me there to protect Ant and Dec when he came out because his obsession is real.
“I think that’s the main reason he did this show, to be honest with you, just to get closer to them, so I think I’m here for protection.
“Zara could have left, but we obviously thought Zara would still be on Strictly. Obviously, she could leave now, but I will not give up my place. Listen, first come, first served.
