Dr Whittington first advises avoiding dark spirits such as whiskey and brandy because they are “proven to cause the worst hangovers.”
“After a night of heavy drinking, drink a bottle of water before you go to bed and when you wake up the next morning,” he says.
The medical expert adds that you should also “eat plenty of carbohydrates to replenish your sugar levels” when you wake up.
“You can take something for a headache,” he explains, “but avoid Tylenol, which is bad for the liver.”
