Irish firefighter accused of raping Boston girl after St Patrick’s Day parade appears in court after ‘attempting to flee arrest’

The Irish national, who is a member of the Dublin Fire Department, appeared in court Tuesday for a probable cause hearing a month after being accused of raping a woman at a Boston hotel over the St. Patrick’s Day.

Terrence Crosbie, 37, was charged in March with one count of rape after a 28-year-old woman told police she had been sexually assaulted at the historic Omni Parker House hotel.

On Tuesday morning, Crosbie arrived in Boston Municipal Court wearing a navy blue T-shirt over a long-sleeved white shirt, dark pants, sneakers and handcuffs. He also wore a stony expression.

The married father tried to flee the country on March 16 after being interviewed by authorities about his alleged crime. He is due back in court for an evidentiary hearing on May 1.

Crosbie’s attorneys Daniel Reilly and Patrick Garrity spent the morning persuading Judge James Stanton to delay the probable cause hearing. Their client remains in jail on a $100,000 bail request.

Court documents show the alleged victim met Crosbie’s friend at The Black Rose bar and returned to the hotel where Crosbie and the friend shared a room.

The woman and the friend then had consensual sex in the room.

Surveillance video shows Crosbie returning to the hotel about two hours later, after which the woman says she woke up to the horror of being sexually assaulted by Crosbie.

She said she told him to stop and he replied: ‘This guy is sleeping. I know you want this.’

Authorities learned that Crosbie had traveled to Boston from Dublin with several other members of the Dublin Fire Department during the typically drunken weekend.

After he was interviewed by the police on March 16, he immediately tried to leave the country. He booked an evening flight for the night of the interview, several days before his scheduled departure date.

Crosbie actually boarded a flight scheduled to depart even earlier than the one he had booked in a panic, but members of the Massachusetts State Police stopped the plane on the tarmac and apprehended Crosbie.

At the time, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said the department was grateful for ‘the victim’s willingness to come forward’ and ‘deserved tremendous credit for doing so in this case.’

“I am grateful for the vigilance of the police in finding that Mr. Crosbie was trying to leave the country before he could be held accountable for his actions,” he added.

Authorities ordered Crosbie to be held on $100,000 bail and to surrender his passport. He was also ordered not to leave the state of Massachusetts.

When the Dublin Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer was made aware of his employee’s allegedly sub-legal activities abroad, he immediately placed Crosbie on leave.

As Crosbie claimed to have wreaked havoc across the Atlantic, his wife appears to have been left behind with the couple’s two daughters.

In a series of social media posts revealed after his arrest, Crosbie was revealed to have something of a dirty streak when frankly discussing sex.

On October 10, 2021, the fireman posted an X-rated message for his wife’s birthday.

“Happy birthday honey … I’ll burst your cervix later,” he wrote above a photo of the pair.

In a post from 2017, he wrote about his desire to see a football match in Amsterdam, before offering his thoughts on a very different facet of the city.

‘Ajax away be a descent (sic) trip. 6ft blondes and Europe’s most unheralded rape capital is definitely worth a trip, even if it’s Vigo vs Lyon,” he wrote.
