Trevor Lawrence said he intends to play this Sunday against the Browns after the Jaguars cornerback suffered a scary ankle injury on Monday.

Teammate Walker Little stepped on Lawrence’s ankle during Jacksonville’s loss to the Bengals, and his leg twisted gnarly before he was forced off the field.

But just days after Jaguars fans feared the worst, Lawrence appears to be in contention to play this weekend.

“I’m grateful it’s not a more serious injury than I thought on the field,” Lawrence told reporters Wednesday.

“If I can be there (Sunday) and be myself for the most part, I’ll be there.”

Lawrence didn’t practice Wednesday, but he wasn’t wearing cleats when he showed up at the news conference in sandals.

However, head coach Doug Pederson hinted that the team may be without Lawrence – at least for a short time – as he said his team will have to “weather this storm, so to speak.”

After Lawrence’s injury, Jaguars fans were furious to see him walk off the field instead of using a cart.

But Lawrence admitted it was his own decision – and a “stupid” one – not to use the trolley.

“Of course we have carts and we have everything we need, and I’m the one who didn’t decide to take one. So, put it on me,” he said Wednesday.

“Maybe it was stupid. Perhaps I should have taken one. Whatever. But this has nothing to do with the fact that we don’t have a cart. I don’t think that’s going to happen in the National Football League, especially here with the team we have.”

Whether it’s this week or later, Jaguars fans will be thrilled that Lawrence’s injury doesn’t spell the end of the season.

Fans of the team, which fell to 8-4 on Monday, bombarded the quarterback’s wife with positive messages following the scare.

“Really amazed by the kindness and love of people,” Marissa said in a comment attached to the direct message video.

“Just wanted to share something positive and sincerely thank everyone for your prayers and support,” Marissa continued. “I’m grateful to be surrounded by so many wonderful people.”
