Jurgen Klopp hit out at the Amazon presenter and branded him “totally ignorant” for making an ironic reference to Liverpool’s early start against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday brought Liverpool to within two points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, but Klopp was in no mood for jokes.

The Reds manager previously regretted playing the opening match of the weekend and criticized Amazon Prime Sport presenter Marcus Buckland for his “disgraceful” comments in his post-match interview.

Speaking on the pitch at Bramall Lane, Klopp was asked: “You’ve had to reshuffle your squad, you’ve got all these games in Europe and now you’re going to Crystal Palace – your favorite kick-off time at the weekend.”

This put the German in line for an incredibly awkward conversation, to which he, visibly annoyed, sarcastically replied: “It’s great, it’s really great to joke about it.”

Buckland professionally continued to try to defuse the tense conversation with his questions, adding, “You still have the passion, you still have the fun.” It’s constant, day after day.”

But the Liverpool manager refused to agree and maintained his polite approach, replying: “Yes, we’re going home now, I don’t know what time we’ll arrive, maybe one or two, and then we’ll play again, maybe at We have two sessions. Tomorrow and Friday.

“We can recover, and then we will play again. Crystal Palace will play again today, so everything is fine. But I understand that you don’t understand this even when you work in football, so why should I try to explain it again.

“If you joke about this, then you are completely ignorant. but it’s good that football is entertainment. Everything is fine.’

The presenter, who was accompanied by former Liverpool player Steve McManaman, then said he was not trying to be “disrespectful” and even apologized. Klopp was having none of it.

“It’s just one of those questions that comes up, and I’m not trying to be disrespectful,” Buckland said.

Klopp chimed in: “You already were,” and Buckland then added: “Okay, I’m sorry, Jurgen.”

He continued, “Okay, you can say whatever you want, just because I can’t say what I want because that would be different.”

The Amazon presenter then ended the interview by wishing Liverpool well against Palace, to which Klopp replied:Go tell that to Crystal Palace. Thank you very much,” before dropping the mic and walking away.
