Kallangur house fire: Woman dies after she is found badly injured near a house fire – as man is rushed to hospital with serious burns

A murder investigation was launched after the woman was found in the street away from the fire and died at the scene.

The woman was found with serious injuries at Brimstone Court in Kallangura, north Brisbane, at 7pm on Saturday.

Emergency services were called minutes earlier to the scene of a house fire after a building on nearby Francis Court caught fire.

The woman was pronounced dead shortly after being found with serious injuries, while a man was found nearby with serious burns and taken to hospital.

Moreton District Detective Inspector David Harbison said there was no danger to the public.

“This issue is in its infancy,” he said.

“It is not appropriate to release any details at this stage and the investigation is ongoing as we speak.”

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the front room of the home.

By 20:00 they were able to bring the fire under control as part of the building’s ceiling collapsed.

The neighbor told Express Mail that it was a chaotic scene.

“We were just inside and we heard all the sirens,” Amber Joslyn said.

“Thank God the kids aren’t home today,” she said.

“We are very scared.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything in the area around the time of the incident or who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
