Late. Marco Rubio accused the Biden administration of leaking the president’s call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a way to appeal to anti-Semitic supporters.
An Axios report Saturday night details that Joe Biden told Netanyahu in their call that the United States would not engage in counterstrikes against Iran.
Rubio claims this aspect of the call was intentionally leaked by the White House as pandering to “anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, pro-terrorist elements” of the Democratic Party.
“They know Israel will respond — they know that for a fact,” Rubio told CNN State of the Union host Jake Tapper on Sunday. ‘So why would the White House leak it?’

“There’s only one reason they leaked it,” the Republican lawmaker added. ‘And it is, so when Israel responds, the White House can say, ‘We’ve asked them not to do it’ and at least somehow placate these so-called peace activists.’
The Florida senator said the same people who called for an Israeli ‘ceasefire’ against Hamas terrorists in Gaza were the ones who cheered the barrage of hundreds of missiles aimed at the Jewish state over the weekend by Iran and their proxies in the Middle East.
Biden and his national security and defense team have insisted that support for Israel’s defense is ‘ironclad’ but have said US forces will not take part in counter-attacks against Iran after Tehran warned it would target US troops as retribution.
Since Saturday, Iran has launched at least 300 missiles, drones and other strikes against Israel, but most were intercepted and shot down before reaching the target nation’s airspace.
If Israel launches a counterattack, President Biden has done everything he could to try to distance the United States from such a response — including, Rubio claims, leaking his call to Netanyahu.

President Joe Biden met with his national security team in the White House situation room on Saturday amid an escalating conflict in the Middle East
‘These ‘ceasefire now’ people who were out yesterday cheering the firing of hundreds of rockets and drones and missiles at Israel; people who are out there cheering military strikes of this scale and scope are not peace activists — they are anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, pro-terrorist elements out there,” Rubio asserted.
“And we need to stop calling them peace activists,” he continued. “They are not peace activists. You don’t – peace activists don’t cheer massive attacks against other countries, which they did yesterday.’
“So, I guess this is part of the White House’s effort to appease them by spreading it so proactively.”
