‘1. I was completely and utterly miserable. I went through a terrible breakup that left me with crippling anxiety – to the point where I couldn’t eat, struggled to go to work and couldn’t even sit up straight because I was doubled over.

‘My stomach was literally in knots and my heart was broken.

‘2. I STILL wanted to lose ‘just a little more’. Even though I was the smallest I’d been in a very very long time, I told myself I’d be happy when I lost 2/3 more stone.

‘At pretty much every stage of my life I’ve looked back at pictures of myself and wondered why I was so at war with what I saw in the mirror.

“Maybe it’s proof that body image issues lie in how we *think* about how we look, rather than how we actually look.

“And maybe it’s time we stopped romanticizing our lives when we were younger. They probably weren’t all sunshine and roses back then, either.

‘What do you think? Is that something you do too?’

Laura has previously admitted on her body positivity podcast Go Love Yourself that she worries about the health implications her size may have as she ages.

Still, she reasoned: ‘I think a lot of people think that when you’re body positive you’re promoting obesity, but actually we’re just existing.’

Discussing her yo-yo dieting, she continued: ‘I’ve tried every diet numerous times, tried everything and all that happens is I gain more and more weight and feel like shit.’

“I’m at the point where I think diets don’t work, I don’t want bariatric surgery, my options are to try to be a bit healthier and just accept myself and not beat myself up and try to live life to the fullest.’
