Mama June’s late daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s ashes will be divided among family members after open-casket funeral – following her death aged 29 from cancer

Mum June Shannon’s late daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell will be cremated and her ashes will be divided among family members following an open casket funeral.

Cardwell died on Saturday aged just 29 after a battle with stage four adrenal cancer.

TMZ reports that a memorial service will be held for Cardwell this week, her remains have been separated and she plans to make “special jewelry or crystals” from her ashes inside.

The funeral home will also take Cardwell’s fingerprints with family considering getting tattoos of her prints.

Sources told the publication that Cardwell requested an open casket funeral and wanted fans to be able to attend because she was close to them.

Her family will also receive a memorial bench in her honor.

This happened after it was revealed Cardwell secretly got married after learning she had stage 4 cancer.

Cardwell, who was the daughter of the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star, previously revealed she was battling adrenal cancer, which had progressed to stage four.

Cardwell tied the knot with her partner Eldridge Toney on March 4 in Wilkinson County, Georgia, while undergoing chemotherapy, after previously expressing her desire to get married two months earlier, although she was still feeling fairly well, reports TMZ.

The ceremony was hosted by the husband of Anna’s sister Pumpkin, and the source said that the wedding was attended by close relatives and a film crew recording footage for the reality show. Mama June: From not to hot.

The mother of two girls, Caitlin, 11, and Kylie, eight, underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy in a bid to beat her cancer and was determined to have Toni’s baby before she was diagnosed, having suffered four miscarriages.

In 2021 she told Sun USA: ‘We are trying to have a third child and it has been difficult. I’ve had four miscarriages and a D&C.

“It’s been a long, bumpy road for us trying to have baby number three.”

Her latest miscarriage happened two days before Christmas – a month before she was diagnosed with cancer – and she discovered she wasn’t producing enough progesterone, which “prevents the baby from getting enough nutrition.”

Mama June, 44, announced her daughter’s death in an Instagram post on Sunday.

Two days before her grim announcement, the reality star asked her fans and social media followers to pray for her sick daughter.

“It is with broken hearts that we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” June began her heartbreaking post. “She passed away peacefully at my home at 11:12 pm last night.”

“She fought desperately for 10 months when she passed away with her family as if she wouldn’t make it and we will update you with more information as soon as we receive it today (sic),” Shannon continued.

“We love you all and continue to keep our family in our prayers and thoughts (during) this difficult time,” she added.

The caption was accompanied by a photo of June’s mom and her family, including Anna, who kept her hair short during cancer treatment.

In January, Anna was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer after complaining of abdominal pain.

Mayo Clinic reports that adrenal carcinoma is a rare cancer that affects the adrenal glands in the kidneys. The adrenal glands produce hormones that transmit instructions to almost every organ and tissue in the body.

In the summer, the star of “From Not to Hot” said that Anna’s cancer was incurable.

“We know it’s deadly. She is in stage four. She will not be in remission,” she wrote, adding, “We have all accepted this, so I just tell people one day at a time because you never know.”

She took to social media on Friday to ask her 758,000 Instagram followers for prayer.

“You all please pray for our family as we go through this process,” the Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo alum wrote.

“We really appreciate you all for all your thoughts and prayers, and we will update you when we can,” she said, adding, “Just know that all your thoughts and your prayers are greatly appreciated at this time,” she said . explained, adding the hashtags: “#mamajune #cancersucks #family #prayers.”

She didn’t mention her daughter directly, but her followers immediately knew she was referring to Cardwell.

“Anna sends you many, many, many prayers. God bless you, dear. ❤️,” one concerned fan wrote.

“Lord, please take Anna in your arms and help her and her family during this time when they need you,” another added.

One follower sympathized with June’s struggle, writing: “From a cancer fighter mom…an angel…my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for you all.”

June’s 23-year-old daughter, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, reposted, adding, “Pray for our family.”

Cardwell’s 18-year-old younger sister Alana’Sweet Boo BooThompson also took to social media on Sunday to remember her.

Sharing with her 1.1 million followers, Thompson wrote: “This is one post I wish I hadn’t posted.”

She shared the same family portrait as her mom with a heartbreaking caption as she mourned the new loss.

“Last night we all surrounded Anna with love and let her know it was okay to go. “Unfortunately, Anna breathed her last at around 11 p.m.,” she said.

The note continued: “Anna was in so much pain last night, but now as a family we all know she is at peace now. I really don’t know what to say because my heart is completely broken.”

The college student said: “Watching my 29-year-old sister battle this terrible disease last year has not been easy. Anna was a fighter and remains one. Lord, please hug her two babies and our family because in the next couple of days this will all become reality.”

She went on to say that her older sister was waiting for her to get home to transfer.

“I’m so glad you waited until I got home to take your last breath!” I wish you could have seen me graduate from college, but I know you will always be cheering me on in heaven!” she said in the caption.

“We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever. And I promise to always celebrate our birthday as if you never left! The sky looks a little different today. We will always love you Anna,” added a heartbroken Honey Boo Boo.

And finally she said, “You hit me hard with your one and only Anna, but I know (you) are in a better place now and pain-free forever!”

Anna’s cancer eventually spread to her liver, kidneys and lungs.

According to the American Cancer Society, the average age of patients with adrenal cancer is 46 years old, but it can occur in people of any age, even children.

Adrenocortical carcinoma begins in the outer layer of the adrenal glands, located next to the kidneys. The adrenal glands are small glands that produce hormones.

Most tumors that form in the adrenal glands are not cancerous.
