Married ex-Marines, 42, and 35, are killed in wrong-way crash with ‘drunk driver’ after moving to Texas to start their new life – as heartbreaking photos from wedding day are released

A Texas newlywed was killed in a crash involving a drunk driver.

Kristen Huddleston, 35, and her husband Jared Huddleston, 42, were driving on Chisholm Trail Boulevard in Fort Worth on Sunday when they were hit by a car.

WFAA reported that the vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction and the couple, both Marine veterans, died at the scene.

The driver of the car that allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic, 27-year-old Andrew Adamson, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and police say he was intoxicated.

Kristen’s father Rafael Ortiz told the publication that the couple, who both had children from previous relationships, were returning home after meeting with other Marines when the incident occurred.

Ortiz told the publication that the couple moved to Texas to live closer to him and said his daughter was devoted to her children.

He said: “They were a perfect fit, she had so many advantages, she had so many dreams, so many aspirations. Kristen was an incredibly devoted mother.

“It was nice to watch this growth process, but it was stolen. It’s complicated. It still doesn’t seem real. I talked to her four or five hours ago.

Ortiz said the couple was driving home after meeting with other Marines at the time of the incident.

“The thrill of seeing her become the woman you always wanted your daughter to be, now knowing there is no hope for that anymore is just devastating. You will never have to bury your children,” he added.

Ortiz described his daughter and son-in-law as witty soulmates.

He said: “Their love was unmatched. They were happy. This is the happiest sight I have seen in my adult daughter. They are still happy together. I couldn’t separate them.

Kristen planned to become a therapist to help former Marines transition to civilian life.
