Meghan Markle’s brother accused of the ‘ultimate treason’ after reading disgusting rants on YouTube dressed in a wig with a pillow stuffed in his shirt and introducing himself as ‘Me-gain’
Meghan Markle’s brother has been convicted of appearing to mock her in a series of YouTube video pranks – dressing up with a pillow inside his sweater and calling himself ‘Me-gain’.
Thomas Markle Jr, 57, has fired off a series of insults and conspiracy theories in clips aimed at his estranged half-sister, the Duchess of Sussex.
He is seen in one apparently propping a pillow over his top while wearing a wig and tiara, ridiculing the Duchess.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond called the videos ‘grotesque’ and accused him of committing ‘the ultimate betrayal’.
And a former government minister has also called for tougher action from internet companies to combat ‘harassment and intimidation campaigns’.

Thomas Markle Jr, 57, reportedly hasn’t spoken to Meghan in more than a decade
The Duchess, 42, has reportedly not spoken to her brother for more than a decade.
He has set up his own YouTube page, showing regular videos and live streams where he talks about Meghan and the royal family while answering questions from many of his 36,500 subscribers.
The latest video, in which he dons a wig and pillow to mock Meghan, was published last Wednesday, although he has dressed similarly in previous footage.
He describes himself as ‘Me-gain’, a derogatory nickname internet trolls have aimed at the Duchess.
Markle has also suggested plans to bring out her own range of merchandise, such as glasses, mugs and T-shirts, Sunday Mirror reported.
Addressing the camera as if in dialogue with the Duchess, he raged: ‘It’s not just your freedom of speech, Meghan, it’s everyone’s freedom of speech.
‘So if you don’t like it, don’t watch, right? I’ve got to ride those coat tails baby – oh yeah, if it wasn’t for Meghan Markle I don’t know what I’d be doing.’
Journalist and royal family expert Bond responded by saying: ‘Having your own flesh and blood lead the attack must feel like the ultimate betrayal for Meghan.’
Conservative MP and former technology and digital economy minister Damian Collins said: ‘The major social media companies must do more to combat harmful content on their platforms, including campaigns of harassment and intimidation.
‘They have created systems that have not only allowed conspiracy theories to thrive, but are actively promoted by the recommendation systems designed by these big tech companies.’
The latest barbs from Thomas come as Meghan was spotted in Palm Beach at the weekend with husband Harry, 39, filming her new Netflix show about the world of polo.
The pair were the main attraction as they attended a charity match at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Miami, Florida – although there was a potentially awkward moment when she asked a woman not to pose next to Harry for a photo.

The event raised funds for the Sentebale charity, which Harry co-founded in 2006 to help children with HIV in Africa.
A camera crew followed the pair’s every move as Harry scored a goal and then stepped onto the podium to receive a trophy and a kiss from his wife.
This is not the first time her half-brother has caused controversy.
Ahead of the Duke and Duchess’ wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018, Thomas sent a letter to Harry telling him it was ‘not too late’ to pull out of marrying her – and described his sister as ‘obviously not the right woman for you’.
Thomas slammed the American actress, insisting she was a ‘flat, shallow, conceited woman who wants to make a joke about you and the royal family legacy’.
He wrote to Harry: ‘As more time has passed until your royal wedding, it has become very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history.
‘Meghan Markle is clearly not the right woman for you. I am confused as to why you are not seeing the real Meghan that the whole world is seeing now.
He also took part in a 2021 Big Brother VIP Australia series where he told other contestants to warn Harry that his ‘very shallow’ sister would ‘ruin’ his life and had left her ‘own flesh and blood’.
However, later in the show’s run he was filmed writing another letter apologizing to the couple for his ‘harsh’ words.
Reading the note aloud on screen, he said: ‘Dear Meghan and Harry, the first thing I want to say to you both is that I am sorry from the bottom of my heart for the terribly mean letter that I wrote to before your wedding.
‘And I want you both to know that it didn’t come from the real person that I am, but came from a very dark and wounded part of my heart.
‘I’m not a bad person at all and I have more love inside of me to give than anything else.’

Thomas went on to say that the first approach to Harry was written out of “hurt” after Meghan described him as “distant family”.
He said: ‘The letter was certainly written out of my feeling really hurt and confused when I was informed of your reply, that I was a distant relative and that you did not know these people.
‘I was very hurt and confused because of the amazing bond and relationship we shared growing up together and all I could do was put up a wall of defense to protect my heart.
‘I know it was very immature and wrong and I really regret it. When your relationship with Harry became known to the world, my life became public.
‘I, along with everyone in our family, became public figures from one day to the next. No more privacy. And let me tell you, it was very, very stressful to deal with all by myself and no help at all.
‘A real nightmare and constant pressure. I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again, knowing what I know now.’
Meanwhile, Harry has made 22 million pounds ($27 million) from his controversial memoir Spare, even though it is only out in hardback, fellow bestselling author Richard Osman claimed last week.
The Duke of Sussex’s Everything became Britain’s fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time after being published by Penguin Random House last January.
Harry was due to receive a £16 million ($20 million) advance as part of a £32 million ($40 million) four-book deal in June 2021 after a bidding war.
The 39-year-old royal’s book saw him accuse his brother Prince William of pushing him into a dog bowl in a row over his wife Meghan Markle.
It also claimed that William teased Harry about his panic attacks, that King Charles put his own interests above that of his second son and saw Harry reference taking cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms and his enjoyment of the TV show Friends.

The couple had arrived hand-in-hand at the event on Friday, which raised money for Sentebale, a charity co-founded by Harry to support children in Lesotho and Botswana
And in a new episode of his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, Osman said: ‘I think – and his book hasn’t come out in paperback yet, so this book is purely hardback – I reckon he’s made $26, $27 million.
‘So he’s made a $20 million advance on the hardback of his first book alone. Forget rights to other stuff and audiobooks and what have you – he’s already earned that.
‘When the paperback comes out, it’s just money rolling into the Sussexes.’
