Mauro Icardi posted a photo of himself with a black eye after a fiery derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on Sunday, when the former criticized the match’s refereeing.

The Argentina striker was injured after colliding with the post during the goalless draw, and his team criticized the referees for not awarding a penalty or card.

“Those who only want justice for themselves continue to manipulate Turkish football through all channels tonight!” This was announced by Icardi’s team Galatasaray.

“The VAR room and 26 cameras don’t see, and we are ashamed of them. Those who brought Turkish football to this point will be ashamed.”

Fenerbahçe called the allegations “embarrassing.”

“Attempts to create victimization by hitting a player on the goal post. We leave this to the discretion of the public,” said the leaders of the Super League table.

Edin Dzeko, captain of Fenerbahce, responded to Mauro Icardi’s social media post with a black eye. “Icardi hit his head on the goal post and they posted it on Instagram and shouted for a penalty… that’s typical of them. It’s a shame,” said the 37-year-old.

Icardi later posted a photo on Instagram of his wife Wanda, who also had a black eye that she had inflicted on herself with makeup.

As well as matching bruised eyes, the pair were wearing matching pajamas and wished their followers all the best for the festive period with the caption: “Merry Christmas everyone.” From Istanbul we wish you health, peace and much love.”

The latest controversy arose after referee Halil Umut Meler was punched late in a Turkish top-flight match.

Former Ankaragucu President Faruk Koca ran onto the pitch and attacked Mehler after his side’s 97th-minute equalizer in a 1-1 Super League draw with Caykur Rizespor in Turkey.

Mehler left the hospital Wednesday with a swollen eye.

“No, I have not forgiven (Koca), I will not forgive,” he told Turkish media.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube, Apple Music And Spotify.

Speaking about the incident, Mehler told the Turkish publication. Hurriyet: “The person who did this punched me and I collapsed and fell to the ground. But the real kicks, when I was lying on the ground, I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Turkish Football Federation bans Koca for life

The Turkish Football Federation’s disciplinary board also ordered Ankaragucu to play five home matches behind closed doors and fined the club 60,000 euros ($66,000).

Following this, all leagues were suspended by the TFF, with the top flight resuming on Tuesday. But one of the three scheduled games was abandoned when the Istanbulspor president withdrew his team from the field to protest the referee’s decision in a game against Trabzonspor.
