More than they bargained for! Winter Wonderland ride breaks down in mid-air leaving thrillseekers dangling for 35 MINUTES – a year after slingshot attraction malfunctioned

A Winter Wonderland ride broke in mid-air last night, leaving thrill-seekers hanging in the air for 35 minutes.

Footage posted on social media shows the giant ride still leaning diagonally and towering over the rest of Hyde Park in London.

The large ride usually spins like the hand of a clock and often turns passengers upside down.

Viewers reacted to the horrific ordeal on social media, writing: “I would faint if I experienced this.”

Another said: “You won’t catch me doing anything like that!” The people stuck on it must have been furious.

A third added: “Well at least they got their money’s worth.”

It comes just a year after a slingshot ride at Winter Wonderland malfunctioned, leaving two boys trapped for 20 minutes.

A slingshot ride malfunctioned at last year’s Winter Wonderland, leaving two boys trapped for 20 minutes.

Witnesses said they heard a loud bang as the slingshot burst and crashed into the bream containing the two boys.

Emergency services were called to the scene and firefighters had to return the riders to the ground.

Snowball could be seen partially disassembled with the seating pod removed.

The ride typically uses bungee cords that launch the capsule straight into the air, as if it were being launched from a slingshot.

In a video posted online by Becky Littlewood, a technical problem caused one of the bungee cords and steel cables to come off.

The remaining group stumbled to the side and sent the capsule crashing into one of the ride’s support beams, leaving the riders suspended in the air.

She told The Sun: “We heard a big explosion and turned around and saw people just hanging there.”

“They sat there for about 20 minutes while they figured out how to get them down.”
