Deveka Rose has been charged with manslaughter and child abandonment following the tragic deaths of two sets of twins who were left alone at home.

Layton and Logan Hoat, three, and Kyson and Bryson Hoat, four, died after fire engulfed their home in Sutton.

The inferno swept through the first floor of the house, enveloping the four boys in thick smoke.

Firefighters pulled the children out of the fire, but unfortunately they could not be saved and they were pronounced dead at the hospital.

More than 60 firefighters on eight engines rushed to the “intense” fire and it took them 90 minutes to bring it under control.

Metro police confirmed Rose was charged Thursday with four counts of manslaughter and child abandonment.

She will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 11.

A police statement said: “Officers understand the significant impact this devastating incident has had on the local community and they would like to reassure people that this extremely complex investigation is continuing with the support of partner agencies including the Crown Prosecution Service and London Fire Brigade.” ‘

Rose has previously spoken of her suffering at having to live without her sons, telling Time: “Bryson, Kyson, Logan and Layton were my boys, they were my children, they were my life, they were my world.

“They were my heart, they were my soul, they were everything. Everything seems so surreal. I can’t function.

Rose said her four sons enjoyed school, dancing, playing in the park and being with family.

She added: “I can’t deal with it, I will never deal with it. They lit up everyone’s world and I will always be sad that they left so soon.

“They had so much planned and now they’re gone. I wake up and look at their Christmas tree, look at their clothes, their Liverpool football uniforms, their Cocomelon robes, their drawings.”

The twin boys’ devastated father, Dalton Hoate, 28, said they were “smart, caring, sweet boys, but most of all sons, brothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and cousins.”

In a statement at the time, he said: “We would like to thank all the emergency services who did so much to try to save our boys, as well as the local community who pulled together during this difficult time.”

“I would ask that my family be given time to grieve in private.

“They will forever remain in my heart and thoughts, beloved dad.”

The boys’ grandfather added: “It’s all the more heartbreaking because all their gifts were stacked under the tree and ready for them.”
