Jets owner Woody Johnson confirmed that head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas will return for the 2024 season.

That’s despite the New York Jets failing to make the playoffs after falling to 5-9 after high hopes were placed on them over the summer.

The Jets were rocked by Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending Achilles injury on just the fourth snap of his MetLife Stadium debut.

Since then they have struggled with Zach Wilson at center, using four backs throughout the season and failing to generate any attacking threat.

But that wasn’t enough to motivate Johnson to reboot the organization’s top ranks.

“My decision is to leave them,” Johnson told the New York Post before Sunday’s game with the Commanders.

“I think we’ve made some very positive steps. The team culture is much better.

“The defense has gotten better. An offense needs several parts.

“Just to maintain continuity with Aaron and our team,” he added.

“As I said a year ago, we need a defender. We had a quarterback for four games.

“We haven’t been able to replace him since then. If we have a good defender, it will make everyone’s job easier. It makes the line better and the receivers better.”

Saleh has struggled to produce wins in his first three seasons in New Jersey, as the coach’s record currently stands at 16-32.

Douglas, meanwhile, has ranged from 25 to 55 during his tenure since taking over as CEO in June 2019.

Saleh had to play the entire season without star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

He had some success in the draft with Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, while trading for Rodgers seemed like a masterstroke before he got hurt.

Johnson has been impressed with the impact Rodgers has had on the organization since his arrival and hopes for big things next season.

“I think if you see Aaron Rodgers now and the impact he has on a team and what he’s able to do with little to no practice, it’s amazing,” Johnson said.

“He’s in the fourth quarter of the league and he’s throwing like he’s been practicing all year.

“When he starts practicing and timing his receivers perfectly, I think you’ll see some amazing things.”
