NFL player Hayden Hurst reveals he cannot remember the four hours immediately after suffering nasty concussion last month but insists ‘scary’ post traumatic amnesia won’t end his career

Carolina Panthers star Hayden Hurst said a concussion left him unable to remember for four hours after the game.

The tight end suffered a serious head injury during Carolina’s 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Nov. 9.

And his father, Jerry, revealed earlier this week that the former Cincinnati Bengals player was diagnosed with post-traumatic amnesia by an independent neurologist.

Hurt spoke about the terrible consequences of a concussion and thanked fans for their support.

“I appreciate everyone reaching out and checking in on me. I suffered a pretty nasty concussion against the Bears a few weeks ago and don’t remember anything 4 hours after the game. Scary situation, but the Panthers have been incredible in helping me through this process,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Carolina Panthers star opened up about the aftermath of a horrific head injury on social media.

The 30-year-old is currently listed as a doubt with no timetable for his return but insists the injury is not career-ending.

“Although it was scary, it is NOT career-ending. I’m starting my return to play this week, so fingers crossed I’ll be back for the last few weeks! God bless and keep hitting,” he added on social media.

Hurst also confirmed that his condition is improving, telling ESPN: “I’m getting better every day.” It won’t end my career, I’ll just be careful when I come back. It should take another week or two.

He returned to practice for the first time since Wednesday’s Nov. 9 game, but in a red jersey, limiting his contact.

Carolina interim coach Chris Tabor said Wednesday that Hurst is “progressing” in the protocol but did not provide any additional details.

Hurst spent last season in Cincinnati, where he quickly became a fan favorite. Before the Bengals, Hurst played his first four years with the Ravens and Falcons.

The tight end suffered a concussion during a 16-13 loss to the Bears on Nov. 9.

In his only season with the Bengals, Hurst had 52 receptions for 414 yards and two touchdowns.

Hurst signed a three-year, $21 million deal to join the Panthers in March and now has 18 catches for 184 yards this season.

The Panthers have struggled all season and have a 1-11 record at the bottom of the NFC South division.

Carolina has five games remaining, starting at the New Orleans Saints on Dec. 10.
