A serious judge has hit out at a 31-year-old father who used his daughter as a “bargaining chip” with pedophiles before throwing him behind bars.

A Western Australian father appeared in the state’s District Court in November over multiple child sexual abuse and exploitation offences.

District Court Judge Linda Black told the 31-year-old the level of depravity in the material found on him was “horrific”, “graphic” and “the worst of its kind”.

Judge Black jailed the father for 24-and-a-half years for his crimes, including abusing his daughter in order to access other shocking images and videos of pedophiles on the internet.

The violence was so heinous that Judge Black did not allow the details to be read in court, instead putting the details of the crimes in writing.

Police were first notified of the man in September 2022 after an international report found he had been sending images to his then three-year-old daughter.

Detectives then raided the man’s home and discovered a cache of child abuse material, including explicit photos and videos of the man raping his daughter.

Police discovered the man also created advertisements detailing how he abused his daughter.

The material also included photographs and videos of other newborn and deceased children who were interfered with.

Video was also discovered that showed a man inappropriately filming a family friend’s seven-year-old child in 2019.

More than 50,000 images and 2,000 videos were seized during the raid, with Judge Black describing the cache as “the scale and content of which has never previously been encountered in any of the reported decisions to which I have had access” Western Australia reported.

Judge Black told the court the material showed “how far from humanity” the father had gone.

She then launched a blistering attack on the man after he said he was a “good father” in letters written to the court.

“You used what you created as a result of molesting your own child as a bargaining chip that allowed you to then gain access to the materials you needed; trading your daughter for other people’s daughters, so to speak,” Judge Black said.

-You weren’t a good father. You weren’t a good person. You have harmed your child. You hurt her for years.

“The fact that she still wanted to see you and came to you with open arms was because she didn’t yet understand that you were hurting her because she trusted you. Don’t fool yourself. You weren’t a good father.

Evidence showed the man had bragged in online chats that he had been abusing his daughter since she was a child, but the material showed the abuse began when she was about three years old.

Judge Black said it was “quite possible” that the man had indeed molested his daughter since birth but was unsatisfied beyond reasonable doubt.

“While I believe it is entirely possible that you sexually abused her from the moment she was born, to ultimately find this and sentence you on this basis would be an aggravating circumstance and I am not satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt. Judge Black said.

“The purpose of the sentencing was sexual arousal from images and discussions related to penetration and other extreme sexual activities with newborn children. You actively encouraged this behavior by seeking out and viewing such images.”

The father was jailed for 24 and a half years, after which he will be eligible for parole.
